Cheat And Boast About Your Salaries: City Boys Shamed After Rugby Rules Email Goes Viral

A private email in which four City workers preparing for a rugby tour instruct each other to brag about their wealth and cheat on their girlfriends has gone viral.

The ‘rugby tour rules’, was drawn by up former public schoolboys George Boulton-Lee, James Hill, Daniel England and Rory Jones, who branded themselves "G4" ahead of their upcoming trip to the Dubai 7s rugby tournament in March.

It’s thought the email was circulated among thousands of City workers at companies including Clifford Chance and Barclays Wealth.

It lists the rules as:

  • Cheating is allowed
  • No anti-lad behaviour allowed (i.e. calling girlfriends, being nice to random expats)
  • Everyone has each others backs
  • No stealing ties or light bulbs
  • Compulsory gunning of parents affairs
  • Mentioning parents salaries once a day
  • Being good lads (i.e. getting a round for England)
  • Chants about your surrounding environment, being oily and how rich we are, are compulsory
  • Public school boy 10 minutes (collars must be up) at specified 10 minutes past the hour
  • No cameras allowed after sunset, unless it’s an underwater camera or there’s a spit-roast (for evidential purposes)
  • High fives (and honey glaze) are obligatory during a spit-roast and after
  • All universal consumption laws will be in effect throughout the duration of the tour and
  • At least one ‘Silly 5’ at the bar per night. All G4 members must go to the closest bar and get loose with their credit/ debit cards. All drinks purchased to be consumed within the allotted 5 minute time period.

Hill, who is a Terrorism and Political Violence Insurance Broker at Willis, describes himself in the email as “a remarkably good looking individual who is permanently tanned and has an extremely muscular body.”

Jones is Account Executive at Lightfoot Marketing Asia and apparently comparable to a “true Viking warrior.”

Boulton-Lea is a Ship Broker at Arrow, while England - described as the “looker” is a lawyer at Shearman & Sterling LLP.

A source told the Daily Telegraph: “Someone forwarded it maliciously to so many people. It was just a joke for a holiday.

“It is getting so out of hand. This could ruin their careers. Someone just forwarded it on because they thought it was funny.”
