Gay Hate Leaflet Muslim Men Jailed In Landmark Ruling

Three men have been jailed after becoming the first to be convicted of stirring up hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation for handing out leaflets calling for gay people to be executed.

Ihjaz Ali, Kabir Ahmed and Razwan Javed gave out the pamphlet, entitled The Death Penalty?, that showed an image of a mannequin hanging from a noose and quoted Islamic texts that said capital punishment was the only way to rid society of homosexuality.

Ali was jailed for two years and Ahmed and Javed for 15 months each.

Following a trial at Derby Crown Court last month, they were convicted by a jury of distributing threatening written material intending to stir up hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation - the first prosecution of its kind since legislation came into force in March 2010.

Two other men, Mehboob Hussain and Umar Javed, who were also charged with the same offence, were found not guilty.

How about prison reform? So, regardless of what crime someone is convicted of, it is despicable to wish rape on another human being. Also, it's despicable to allow that to go on while people are incarcerated. I find this attitude very disturbing. God forbid someone in your family gets into trouble. Where will they end up? In the very same place you have wished on your enemy.

Stupid ruling. The Old Testament/Torah and all KJ Bible copies prescribe death penalty for homosexuality, will the police go about arresting all missionaries who distribute the Bible?

So you approve of their hate pamphlets?

No, I don't. But answer my question. The Bible also prescribes death penalty for homosexuality, so will the government ban the Bible?
08:12 PM on 02/11/2012
Yes, and they prescribe the death penalty for children who talk back to their parents or for the who eat crustaceans or mix wool and cotton.

How about a little background on these men,and any groups behind them.

These men may become more understanding towards the gay community, especially since they will experience the loving embrace of another man while in prison.

Real Muslims aren't like this! Just as real Christians aren't like this.

It's terrible to see so much hatred against a group of people considering this article is about fighting bigotry! Islamophobia is no better than Homophobia.

Islam: a regressive and archaic belief, that feels the need to enforce their draconian moral beliefs on everyone else through means of terrorism.

Homosexuality: attracted to the same-sex because they happen to be born that way.

"Islamophobia" seems more of a rational position than the fear of homosexuals.

It seems these three Muslims became tired of being hated, so they had to go out and find someone to hate.

No -- They don't care if they are hated. That's not the reason behind the hatred they spew.

Good comment! I suspect they will get to know Ashahl Grabehm and Hydha Salamhi quite well while they are in there.

Law of Syria is coming so it looks and there are people who wants to push the matter forward. They are planning it, they knew what would happen if they print and distribute materials as such nature and they became Hiro in their own community only to force others to believe, for their religion they did it? The question is this, is mad people and in madness what else could they do to prove their point, we all could think in our own imagination as well.

Justice has been done. It is very important that our Courts stand-up against religious bigots who castigate people for their sexuality. It is very disturbing that a minority of Muslims seek to justify the persecution of homosexuals. In this case these evil men called for people to be killed on account of their sexuality. Our society has moved beyond such narrow, twisted views and we must not allow reactionary elements to destroy the progress that has been made.

Um, guys? No one's telling you to live the gay lifestyle. If you don't like the thought of gayness, then don't participate in it.

It is no surprise that some muslims would be caught doing this, there are plenty of muslims spewing hatred for anyone not muslim. I am pleasently surprised however that they were charged and convicted of a crime even though they are muslim, because it seems lately that if youre muslim youre almost treated with hands off type of treatment, for fear of being labeled a muslim hater. Now if only this would start the ball rolling in britain where it comes to the other muslims that let their hatred for britain and brits or westerners in general, so they can be either charged for their crime/s and jailed or deported.

The real point is that this is a tenet of their religion. You will not , and cannot eradicate it. Islam has not evolved as other creeds have, unless to say it has gone even more medieval than it was. It is entrenched in their faith, and sooner or later they will invoke their freedom of religion. I'm actually surprised they haven't already. A freedom of religion that only works one way.

How have other creeds evolved? Plenty of Christians think that gays should be put to death. Look at the American Family Association!

Yes, and another point is: Most religious zealets cannot see past their god in front of
them, they cannot see that others have the same religious freedoms that they themselves strive for. All religions call for the proselyzation of the non-believers, but
what we really need is (from my perspective) to remove the absolutist belief structure
from religions if we want to survive as a species, if not religion entirely. Yet, it's just another way of seeing the world.

Live and let others, truly, live. Regardless of any world view or sexual preference.
