Holly Willoughby is reportedly stepping into Cilla Black's shoes to host a one-off remake of ITV's Surprise, Surprise.

It's unlikely Willoughby, who previously presented Dancing On Ice, will be singing the theme tune like Cilla did, but producers are hoping she can produce an equal amount of lorra lorra laughs.

The show previously ran for more than 10 years, between 1984 to 1997, and featured practical jokes and unsuspecting members of the public in tear-jerking reunions.

The Sun reports TV executives want to bring the show back for a one-off special and are in discussions with the This Morning host to present it.

A source said: "Surprise Surprise was a big hit when it aired in the Eighties and Nineties and viewers remember it fondly.

"We'll be updating the show and giving it a modern twist but the essence will still be the same."

Surprise, Surprise is just the latest golden-oldie to be remade. Last week it was announced Simon Mayo will be the new face of Blockbusters, which originally ran from between 1983 and 1994, with the late Bob Holness presiding over those requesting a P.

And Vernon Kay is also set to present a rebooted version of telly classic Through The Keyhole, which first ran from 1987 to 1994, taking Loyd Grossman's place in snooping around stars' lavish pads. Paul O'Grady is expected to take Sir David Frost's place in challenging guests to guess the homeowner's identity from Kay's visual clues.
