Music Teacher Alan Williams Planned Suicide After Arrest Over Pupil Sex Assault Suspicion

Teacher Planned Suicide After Pupil Sex Assault Accusations

A private school music teacher who was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting his pupils planned his suicide an inquest heard on Tuesday.

Alan Williams, 59, was found dead at his Stowmarket home last June, reportedly due to an overdose, according to the BBC.

His body was discovered eight days after police extended his bail.

At the time of his death, he was being investigated by detectives after complaints of sexual abuse were made by a number of former pupils. Williams was employed as a music teacher at Ashfold School in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire - an independent prep school which charges up to £5,100 per term, when he was arrested.

Post-mortem tests found he died from a multiple drug overdose combined with a pre-existing heart condition, the BBC reported.

Coroner Dr Peter Dean recorded a verdict that Williams took his own life.
