Sports Day And Beatrix Potter Backstage At Preen

This season Beatrix Potter's botanical sketches were an unlikely source of inspiration for Preen designers Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi, and when it came to creating a beauty look to complement the collection, Aveda's Paul Hanlon and Revlon's Gucci Westman came up with something was fresh, breezy and athletic.

HAIR: Hanlon explained that the look was "windswept with a savage texture", with a sporty knot, and accessorised with a clear comb. "The comb sits in the front as if she's borrowed it from her mum and doesn't know how to use it properly," he told us, "I really wanted there to be a youthful rawness to the look today". Detail comes from the candyfloss texture, and the contrast between powdery hair and slick combed hairline, which was created by using three Aveda products: Pomade, Air Control hairspray and dusty Phomollient.

MAKEUP: "It's athletic, this look definitely not romantic - nothing can be dark about this look, in fact, they shouldn't even look like they're wearing makeup", Westman told us backstage, "this is should be about a modern English look". Brows were kept strong and dark, with Revlon's Just Kissable in Crush and Adore used to give a flush to the lips (both available later this year).
