Pictures Of The Day: The Beautiful Game, Baby Lizards, And Alice Cooper

Though the chilly weather has put most people off sports for now, that didn't stop Barcelona's Alexis Sanchez burying the ball behind Bayer Leverkusen's goalkeeper Bernd Leno in the Champions League last night.

Nor did it stop Bernd Erfurt from swimming in an open air pool in Karlsruhe, Germany, on its opening day of the season - despite air temperatures of just 5 degrees Celsius.

In England, Ben Youngs was braving the cold too, during a training session for the national rugby club. Even surfers were out attempting to catch winter waves in the choppy North Sea!

In Glasgow however, there was not such good news for sport, following the announcement that Rangers had gone into administration due to an unpaid tax bill of around £9 million.

In other news, the adorable baby Frill-Neck lizards of Sydney zoo are doing well, as is Alice Cooper, who is still touring at the age of 64.

Elsewhere, 1500 lovers kiss simultaneously in China, Meryl Streep receives an honorary 'golden bear' award, a woman in north-western India stands in a sea of red chillies, and a policeman in South Korea karate-chops through 13 slabs of stone.
