Marc Jacobs' Set Designer: Rachel Feinstein (PICTURES)

Amazing Paper Set Design Wows New York Fashion Week

Sculptor Rachel Feinstein wowed the fashion crowd this week with her enchanted set design for Marc Jacobs’ show at New York Fashion Week.

The set, which took just days to assemble, was made mainly from paper and was destroyed after the show.

The New York based artist, who has modelled for Marc Jacobs in the past, was approached by the designer personally about the project.

Explaining how Jacobs made his offer after seeing her Puritan’s Delight sculpture, Feinstein told New York Magazine:

The New York Times recently described Feinstein and husband, artist John Currin for whom she is also muse, as the “ruling power couple in today’s art world”.

Feinstein is best known for The Snow Queen, her own personal interpretation of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale of the same name. Like the NYFW set she plays with themes of beauty, fantasy, delicacy and ruin.

We’ve rounded up the best of her work below. Let us know what you think.
