A teacher was cleared of engaging in sexual activity with one of his teenage pupils on Thursday.
Peter Smith, 38, of Pilling Lane, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, was accused of abusing his position of trust as a grammar school teacher between December 2006 and June 2007.
A jury at Leeds Crown Court found the married father-of-two not guilty of performing sexual acts with the boy while he was his teacher.
It was alleged that he kissed and groped the boy when he was 15-years-old and began to have regular sex with him when he turned 16.
He left the West Yorkshire school in June 2007 before returning to teach at another school in the region in 2008.
Smith's lawyer, Peter Pimm, said during the trial that the teacher did not have a relationship with the boy while he was his teacher or before the boy had turned 16.
Smith was cleared of seven counts of sexual activity with a child by a person in a position of trust and three counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity by a person in a position of trust.
