Labour leader Ed Miliband is to step up his attack on the Government's NHS reforms, accusing Prime Minister David Cameron of breaking his promises on health.

During a visit to the Royal Bolton Hospital, in Greater Manchester, Mr Miliband will denounce the Government's Health And Social Care Bill as "bad for the NHS" and repeat his call on the Prime Minister to scrap it.

More than 120,000 people have now signed an e-petition on a Government website calling for the dumping of the Bill, which has attracted opposition from health professionals and patients' groups.

Downing Street on Monday dismissed suggestions that its author, Andrew Lansley, should be sacked as Health Secretary and insisted ministers were "fully behind" his NHS reforms.

Mr Cameron is expected shortly to launch a new offensive to "sell" the Bill to the public.

He said at the weekend he was "at one" with Mr Lansley and the legislation amid reports of deep unease among Tory Cabinet ministers and even Number 10 insiders.

Speaking to nurses in Bolton, Mr Miliband is expected to say: "The Prime Minister made solemn promises before the election to the country.

"No going back to waiting for hours on end in A&E. Three thousand more midwives. An end to hospital closures.
"And no more top-down reorganisations.

"He has broken all these promises and more.

"It is bad for our NHS and bad for politics.

"He should drop his NHS Bill and at least restore one of his broken promises. He should listen to doctors and nurses and the 120,000 who have signed the petition urging him to drop the Bill."

this is the same Ed who with his chums the Broonstuff and the B-Liar spent £12 billion on a computor system for the NHS that does not work. that brought in PFI schemes which are draining the money from the NHS.
they condem private health care but in order to build hospitals for votes they had them built by private companies with contracts that suck the life out of those Hospitals. i have friends working at one, they are not allowed to adjust the heating ( the company sends a chap at over £100 per visit0 light bulbs cost over £50 to be changed the hospital is shedding staff as they struggle to pay the PFI bills. the current government has had to step in to inject money to save the hospital.
it was built 10 years ago and helped save the Labour MP 2 elections ago last time people saw through the con and he was out.

Why do we have House of lords when they, even when a bill goes to them Cameron can still get it through.what a waste of money on these old codgers.
11:18 PM on 02/17/2012
The House of Lords....it's little more than a mortuary.

Poor Ed. Missed the bus again. Most commentators on this said about the Tories promise not to introduce any large scale changes to the NHS months ago as one of the first U-Turns and broken promises of this government. Believe there has been nearly twenty U_Turns now.

Perhaps one of your other two brothers would have been better in the job - David or Glen!!!!!!

the only promise labour ever made, and kept, was the one to overspend and drive the country into the ground. Of course they didnt bother informing the country of this or bother to inform the minions who vote for them time and time again in good old british lemming fashion. I really with someone would give that prat milliband a job as a lollipop man--on second thought he would fff that up to

instead of rehashing the old torys did this, labour did that spats. ask yourself WHY are we continualy ellecting these arrogant, professional politicians into offices they blatantly have no idea how to perform in. we effectivly have a 2 party dictatorship taking turns in a chess match to see how much they can change the country towards there own ideal and outdated ethical and economic goals. a 2 party dictatorship ellect which does all it can to prevent genuine change in the system for the good of the "lower orders" as it would damage the protected system they live in.

proportional representatation is the only way in whicha country can be called democratic electivly, a government which takes heed of its peoples desires is the only way a couintry can truly BE democratic.

this government is abusing minor legislation at the moment to ensure that peaceful, honest protestors are criminalised and the right to protest is removed from them, using blunt naked force to uphold the law as the government sees fit to have it enforced regardless of the effects it has on the overall rights of men and women.

when it comes time to ellect our next group in charge, remember this please. and do vote. do ensure that you all chose who you want to rule over us, and please dont just vite for the old party favourites as they do not care one jot about anyone but themselves

From what I have seen of David Cameron he is fast running out of promises to break.
11:21 PM on 02/17/2012
He means well, but he's surrounded by a cabinet who don't know what he means.
01:16 PM on 02/17/2012
The Tories only care about the rich, so if you don't like it, then fight back, protest and do what it takes, the people put him in power, so the people can remove him, Brits time for a revolution its your country he is destroying, once its gone its gone!

and all voters can protest and get them to stick to their promises.
08:40 PM on 02/17/2012
We did protest all be it not on the streets but through the e petition for a referendum on Europe look where that got us with the party whips lining up their MP’s on the direction of party leaders, now 140000 have signed the e petition on the NHS reforms and this does not even guarantee a debate never mind a free vote. Our vote now counts for very little as both right of centre party’s , yes Labour are right of centre compared to the Labour values of old, which were destroyed by Blair, now almost no choice exists. The real rulers of the planet have manufactured a political system where it does not matter who wins at the ballot box they win all the time.

If Ed Milliband and his cronies had`nt thrown away the countries wealth when they were in power and left it in debt all these cuts and reforms would not be neccessary.

You are possibly not old enouigh to have endured the Wilson years that Thatcher had to recoup. Labour have left the country in debt every time they have been in power. History will prove that to you ,if you bother to look,

I keep childishly sniping for this lot to have the bottle to get out of the EU, but like many others are`nt getting anywhere. Somebody wants to own up to putting this lot in. Desperation ,one can assume about the last lot. We can`t win.
02:47 PM on 02/17/2012
The countries wealth was thrown away by Thatcher and her nazis, long before these clowns got a turn.
01:01 PM on 02/17/2012
Well I am assuming that all those who agree with Cameron can afford to pay out thousands of pounds for private operations when your insurance does not cover it. I also hope you can afford the thousands of pounds it will cost you per year in school fees and all the other stuff you take for granted etc etc when he privatizes that before he finishes his five years that he has so kindly extended for himself.
12:55 PM on 02/17/2012
Yes the Tories (or rather Cameron) have broken promises, but do we REALLY need to be reminded of it by the likes of Milliband and the lying Labour party? Think, we wouldn't be in this mess if it wasn't for those a...holes.

'NHS Reforms: Miliband To Accuse Cameron Of 'Breaking Promises'

Wasn't it Incapability Brown and his team including REd Milliband who broke the NHS with the pay deals for doctors (not nurses) and the billions spent on a computer system which had to be scrapped?
