Adele's Father 'Devastated' After Singer Said She Would 'Spit In His Face'

Posted: Updated:

Adele's estranged father has spoken out after the star said she would "spit in his face" if she ever saw him again, saying her comments have left him "devastated".

The singer's dad, Mark Evans, split from her mum, Penny, when Adele was three years old and has had little contact with her since.

After selling his story to to a British tabloid last year the singer vowed never to speak to him again, telling American Vogue that he had blown his chances of a reunion.

"I was actually ready to start trying to have a relationship with him," she told the magazine. "He's f**king blown it...

"He will never hear from me again... If I ever see him I will spit in his face."

Speaking to the Daily Mail, her dad responded to her comments, saying: "I can't believe she said that. It's devastating. I don't know where it's come from.

"There's so much regret on my part — regret that I wasn't a better father to her. I let her down badly, and I wish I could turn the clock back and do things differently."

Meanwhile, Adele is taking legal action against French gossip magazine Public, after the mag falsely claimed the singer had been the star of an X-rated home video.

A spokesperson for Adele told us: "These claims and images are entirely false."
