Bobby Brown Blames Whitney Houston Funeral Exit On Seating Dispute

Bobby Brown claims he left Whitney Houston's funeral early because overzealous security guards made him switch seats three times and refused to let him see his daughter.

The singer's ex-husband was among the guests attending her star-studded memorial service at a church in Newark, New Jersey on Saturday, but he raised eyebrows by leaving the venue with his children after just 20 minutes.

Brown has now released a statement to explain his departure, insisting he was left fuming when bodyguards kept him away from Bobbi Kristina, his daughter with the late superstar, and made him change places on numerous occasions.

The statement reads: "My children and I were invited to the funeral of my ex-wife Whitney Houston. We were seated by security and then subsequently asked to move on three separate occasions.

"I fail to understand why security treated my family this way and continue (sic) to ask us and no one else to move. Security then prevented me from attempting to see my daughter Bobbi Kristina. In light of the events, I gave a kiss to the casket of my ex-wife and departed as I refused to create a scene. This was a day to honour Whitney. I doubt Whitney would have wanted this to occur. I will continue to pay my respects to my ex-wife the best way I know how."

Reverend Al Sharpton, who was also at the funeral, told TMZ.com: "He showed nothing but love and respect for Whitney. I wish people would leave Bobby alone."

Bobby did the right thing most likely for the first time in his life. If he had really been concerned about his daughter with Ms Houston why wait until her mother dies. He put drugs in the past, other women before her in the past (beding down any women who got near him while married), and the last was money. My mother and step-mother dropped everything when my dad got hurt and died, just to be with us. Bobby had thousand more than they do or will every have.

Bobby did keep his cool, hence his leaving rather than making a spectacle of himself. Seating doesn't matter at a funeral and he should NEVER have been asked to move away from his grieving daughter. I'm sure she needed him right there next to her and those expecting (mourners and non-mourners alike) him to move away from her should be ashamed and seem to be missing an "emotional chip". I send my love and prayers to their families. RIP Whitney, we will miss that beautiful smile and voice.

Sorry but no, he made a grand exit in front of the press follwed by a statement to say how hard done by he was, I mean he should have quietly put up with the situation and he could then have complained quietly after the service.

Good for you Bobby, your actions demonstrated respect & constraint. The family wanted Bobbi to be with you since her Mummy's death, so it would be only natural you would be seated with her, to comfort each other at Whitney's funeral. Get well soon Aretha honey, God bless you all.
