News International has slapped down questions by phone-hacking campaigner Tom Watson MP on whether Rupert Murdoch was aware of the bail conditions for arrested staff. The media mogul invited several suspended staff to return to work at The Sun last week.

In reaction to the Labour MP’s questioning, a News International source told The Huffington Post UK: "There are no bail conditions attached to those arrested from the Sun."

Watson had asked in a letter to Met chief Bernard Hogan-Howe:

We are all keen to see good journalists employed in the conduct of excellent public interest reporting. I do not want to see Mr Murdoch’s actions undermine your investigation though. Mr Murdoch must not be aware of the terms of the bail that was awarded to his employees. The ‘no contact’ terms were there for a reason.

He also questioned if the police investigating allegations of corruption at the paper had "secured computer and paper filing systems".

After 10 members of staff were arrested and suspended at The Sun, sources at the paper confirmed five have already returned to work and the others are expected to come later this week.

However this does not include The News of the World's former features editor Matt Nixson, who was sacked from The Sun following News International's internal investigation into the phone hackings scandal. Nixson is now seeking damages from the paper for wrongful dismissal. He has denied any wrongdoing.

Thanks, Tom. I was wondering the same thing. However, we thought Leveson was just buting time for lawyers to question NewsInternational staff until they got their answers right, but look at all the goodies out of Leveson. Harding admits to computer hacking at the tiemes and letting a judge be lied to about it. More! More!! By all means, delay, sir.

Leveson is by FAR the best serial drama coming out of Britian. I recommend bloody marys with it.

gunner grahams arguements are like labour party policies all wind and no substance ,as regards mrs thatcher she followeed the last labour fiasco when they bankrupt the country the first time.yes 3 million ended up on the dole because of the debt that labour left.currently you say the banks caused the problem it took less than 100 billion to bail the banks out how is it they left power with the country owing 800 billion no wonder they have no credability and no policies except to try and discredit anything and anyone instead of pulling with the people trying to right their wrongs

I think that you have conveniently forgotten how Successive Governments starting with the Thatcher Administration benefited hugely from the North Sea Oil and Gas Bonanza to the tune of more than $1 trillion. What have these governments done with all this bonus cash ? WASTED IT ALL! Without exception, the whole lot has been wasted on inflationary, uncompetitive public sector works, and not one single penny of this $1 trillion has been set aside. Had we followed the example of Norway we would now be sitting on a sovereign wealth fund of more than $250 billion, even after allowing for half of the money having been wasted on public spending projects. $250 billion would generate at least $15 billion of revenue per year, and therefore act as the countries pension. The sensible governments of Norway have ensured that a large part of their North Sea oil money sits in a Sovereign Wealth Fund that has mushroomed to more than $250 billion or $53,000 for every Norwegian. Even the corrupt gulf state dictatorships have managed to build-up huge cash mountains despite having siphoned off hundreds of billions over the decades through corruption.

When North Sea Oil eventually runs down, what will we have to show for it ? And how will we cope with the loss of revenue that has helped keep Britain economically afloat for going on 30 years

More likely that Sally Bercow sends The Sun her new details in the quest for more publicity!
