Arlene Phillips Reveals Whitney Houston's Secret Body Issue
Arlene Phillips has revealed Whitney Houston's secret body hate - she detested her feet.
Choreographer and dancer Arlene worked with Whitney on some of her biggest music videos, including 1984 hit How Will I Know and 1987's I Wanna Dance With Somebody - but the superstar didn't have much confidence in her moves.
Speaking to The Sun about Whitney, Arlene said: "She was quite an insecure girl, sweet, shy and funny.
"She was quite dependent on her PA and it was like everyone had to pay homage to her.
"I had to encourage her to do everything and help her to dance, and she responded so well.
"Then, when I went to New York to do the follow-up for I Wanna Dance With Somebody, she wanted to dance and for me to give her some moves."
And former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene revealed Whitney hated the size of her feet most.
She said: "The funniest memory I'll take away is how she hated her feet. She thought they were too big! It was always about what shoes she was going to wear and how I was going to make her walk.
"I was constantly telling her how gorgeous her legs and feet were and how to use them."
Arlene was devastated to hear the sad news of Whitney's death earlier this month - but has fond memories of working with the star in the 1980s.
She adds: "It was an amazing time and an amazing experience. My time with her was very, very special.
"When she was making the videos she would sing to her own playback and was so note-perfect. You could not fault her.
"I'm very lucky that I had that time with her. As soon as I met her I wanted to mother her. She was very endearing."
