Deep flesh wounds, excessive blood, crushed heads and limbs are ok to show on Facebook, as long as no insides are showing.

“Urine, faeces, vomit, semen and ear wax” are not, says a former Facebook staffer who has leaked his former employer's moderating guidelines to US site Gawker.

Amine Derkaoui, 21, from Morocco spilled the beans to Gawker, saying he was paid just $1 an hour.

The full list of Facebook abuse violations, according to Derkaoui, is listed below.

"Blatant" depictions of "camel toes" and "moose knuckles" are banned, but art and cartoon nudity are just fine.

The Facebook violations policy meant that earlier this year in London, pictures were removed from a breastfeeding group's page showing young girls pretending to breastfeed their dolls.

Sharon Blackstone who posted the image on the Express Yourself Mums page told the North London Guardian she didn't understand how "little girls playing with dolls" can cause offence.

Facebook's rigid moderation has backfired in the past. The social network was forced to re-instate a breastfeeding group's page which had its page pulled after falling foul of the nudity clause that bans breastfeeding images.

A Facebook spokesperson responded to that case, saying: "The group was removed in error. It will be reinstated, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused."

In response to Derkaoui's claims, a Facebook spokesperson told Huffington Post via email: "In an effort to quickly and efficiently process the millions of reports we receive every day, we have found it helpful to contract third parties to provide precursory classification of a small proportion of reported content. These contractors are subject to rigorous quality controls and we have implemented several layers of safeguards to protect the data of those using our service. Additionally, no user information beyond the content in question and the source of the report is shared. We have, and will continue, to escalate the most serious reports internally, and all decisions made by contractors are subject to extensive audits.

“We are constantly improving our processes and review our contractors on an ongoing basis. This document provides a snapshot in time of our standards with regards to one of those contractors, for the most up to date information please visit www.facebook.com/communitystandards."

It seems Facebook is reluctant to close accounts when someone has died. My friend's Father died and he was surprised to see his Father's Facebook page up and running. After repeated calls to Facebook it is still running so my friend has made a memoral page on Facebook showing all his Father's picture etc. You must do the same for your daughter. Yes I have received that scam also and so have a few of my friends on Face book.

I think Huffington Post has taken lessons from facebook when it comes to censorship, and it's arbitary imposition. The reason is, is because both are US based, and the USA has yet to grow up. They feel it perfectly normal to show death, mutilation, the pruriant rubber necking of coffins carrying the bodies of well known people; but are squeamish at nude bodies, or even the very mention of reproduction! How exactly did they think humans were born? The Easter bunny? There are thinsg that I find offensive on the net, but because it's accepted as 'normal', mine, and voices such as mine won't be heard. For example the never ending so called 'celebrity' culture. It's offensive because these individuals by and large have no discernible tallent fr anything. So what is there to celebrate?

Incidentally Huffington Post: just for those who don't know, why not give your readership the full explanation to what SNAFU means? I'm not a prude at all, but I'm fairly sure at least one of the words used would render anyone psoting it, having their comment sanctioned.. Or am I wrong?
