Man In Court Over Muders Of Two OAPs

A man appeared in court today charged with the murders of two elderly women.

Andrew Simon Flood, 43, appeared by video link at Liverpool Crown Court accused of killing Margaret Biddolph, 78, and Anne Leyland, 88, who were found dead in their homes in Southport, Merseyside, last week.

Both victims died of asphyxia, post-mortem examinations confirmed.

Mrs Biddolph's body was discovered at her property in Lonsdale Road last Tuesday and Mrs Leyland was found dead at her home in nearby Birch Street in the early hours of last Wednesday.

Flood, from Clifton Road, Southport, is also charged with robbery in connection with an incident in Janes Brook Road on February 18.

He was remanded in custody until March 16, when he is expected to enter his plea.
