Noel Gallagher Names 'X Factor' Price To Become Judge

Rocker Noel Gallagher would bow to pressure and take a judging role on The X Factor if he was offered a £1m salary.

The former Oasis star was asked to take Simon Cowell's place on the judging panel last year after the music mogul left the show to concentrate on launching the American version Stateside.

Gallagher insisted he had no interest in sitting on the panel of a TV talent show, and Take That frontman Gary Barlow eventually took Cowell's seat.

However, the musician has now named his price, admitting he would struggle to turn down £1m for six months work.

He tells the Radio Times: "It's about six months' work, innit? I reckon it would have to be a million pounds after tax.

"I say that tongue-in-cheek. I don't really want to do it. But a million pounds for six months' work? That's good money if you can get it. Even I don't earn that much."

God, I hope he gets to be a judge. I've seen him in interviews; the man is just so stoic he's hilarious. Plus it'd mean there'd finally be someone on the judging panel (all right, apart from Gary Barlow) who actually knows about music. Y'know, proper, non-autotuned, written by the artist who made their own way into the charts by endurance and talent rather than getting catapulted there by a reality show music. Not that that's what the X Factor of all things is about, but hey, occasionally you get someone incredible like Rebecca Ferguson who merely uses it as a platform to do their own thing.

@Barbara - I think you mean 'foul' mouthed. Maybe learn to spell before you go slagging off someone who made his living writing gorgeous lyrics?

dollylolly, I couldn't agree with you more. He constantly cracks me up, and I love his music. I saw him live once here in NY (just him, not with Oasis), and almost died I was so happy. That was MANY years ago - I know I will never forget it, and I will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart for Noel. Liam, however, is best left unmentioned.

We don't want that fowl mouth Gallagher on our screens for goodness sake, he would probably be doped up to the eyeballs. He wants a £million most people never earn that in their lifetime. I would rather have Freddie Starr and he is bad enough.

I would love to see Noel Gallagher as an X factor judge That would be far more entertaining to watch that the acts he is asked to adjudicate on. His outspoken views and witty asides would rake in millions of viewers. Worth every penny of £1m. Pity the poor acts though but perhaps they would think twice about auditioning if they felt they were up against a real musician and songwriter's considered judgement, instead of the views of popsical plastic pop producer (Cowell) and a toy boy band mogul (Barlow) whose talent is somewhat limited compared to Gallaghers.

I hope he takes the gig. I'll be glued instead of indifferent.

A million pound for 6 months work? Such are the extremes of wealth and poverty in Britain. Most people don't earn that when they have worked hard all their lives. Some times I feel a mug for all the years of my hard work for just enough money to pay for the essentials. If some people were not so greedy in Britain, the wealth could be better distributed.
