Dereck Chisora Banned Indefinitely For Vitali Klitschko Behaviour

Banned!

Dereck Chisora has been banned indefinitely by the World Boxing Council for his behaviour before and after his fight with Vitali Klitschko in Munich.

Chisora slapped Klitschko at the weigh-in prior to his WBC heavyweight fight, and was then involved in a brawl with fellow British boxer David Haye at his post-fight press conference.

He also spat water in to the face of Klitschko's brother Wladimir before the Bavarian bout.

In a statement, the WBC stated it was "one of the worst behaviours ever by a professional".

They have also demanded that Zimbabwe-born Chisora seeks anger management treatment if he wishes to have the suspension lifted.

A "serious" fine is set to be imposed upon the 28-year-old, who is currently ranked 14th in the WBCs heavyweight division. He will now be excluded from the list.

Haye and Chisora fight:

A date has been set for 14 March for Chisora's British Boxing Board of Control hearing. His manager Frank Warren told BBC Radio 5 Live: "I don't understand how someone can be banned without having a hearing. I've never ever heard of anything like that. There's been no hearing."

Warren admitted that aspects of Chisora's antics were wrong but claimed that behind the scenes events need to be taken into consideration.

Chisora was the underdog ahead of his 18 February fight with Ukrainian Klitschko, but earned plaudits for a battling display that saw him defeated on points.

That was overshadowed when, following the fight, he was confronted by Londoner Haye, which prompted Chisora to approach him before a fracas commenced between the duo. Chisora claimed that Haye glassed him, although Haye denied this at the weekend.

The latter's trainer received a cut to his face after a cameraman's tripod was thrown. Haye retired in July last year after he was defeated by Wladimir Klitschko in a world title decider.
