Can You Beliebe It? Justin Turns 18

Justin Bieber, the platinum-selling teen pop sensation, will celebrate his 18th birthday tomorrow, having achieved more in his childhood than most singers accomplish in a lifetime.

The Canadian star, who only started uploading videos of himself performing melodies in his bedroom five years ago, has so far released two number one albums, becoming the first artist to have seven songs from a debut album chart on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

He was barely into his teens when he was discovered via You Tube by talent agent Scooter Braun, who, impressed with what he saw, showed Bieber to Usher, along with Island Def Jam chairman LA Reid, who quickly signed the 15-year-old heartthrob to a recording contract.

Since then he's racked up 57 music awards, including a Brit for Best International Breakthrough Act and four MTV European Music Awards. His 3D part-biopic, part-concert, film Never Say Never grossed $100 million globally, becoming a record-breaking Box Office hit, and according to Forbes the cherubic crooner earned an estimated $53m last year.

Meanwhile, his second album My Life 2.0 quickly attained platinum status and his live shows around the world bring in $600,000 in gross ticket sales per night. Online, the music video for Bieber's hit song Baby has been viewed a record 500m times on You Tube.

The superstar has even bagged his own Disney princess by way of 19-year-old Selena Gomez, who will no doubt be glad Bieber is finally joining her in adulthood.

Bieber's millions of adoring loyal fans, named 'Beliebers', are - in part - to thank for his phenomenal success, and tomorrow they plan to give him a record breaking birthday.

Musically Bieber may not have matured, his new vocal feature on the Far East Movement track Live My Life, out yesterday, sees him sing: "I'm gonna live my life, no matter what we party tonight, I'm gonna live my life, I know that we gonna be alright" but his style is evolving, and as he enters adulthood, the kid from Ontario continues to prove - despite music critics' original complaints - he's no one-hit wonder...
