Glee star Matthew Morrison has taken a damning swipe at former flame Kelly Brook, insisting she's "not the brightest bulb".

Actor Matthew, 33, was linked to the buxom beauty in 2010 after the pair met whilst Kelly was visiting LA.

The Glee star has now confirmed there was a short-lived fling - but suggests there's not much behind Kelly's eyes.

He told The Mirror: "I once went out with a Brit. I didn't realise she was such tabloid fodder. It was Kelly Brook... she's not exactly the brightest bulb. We only went on one date."

Matthew dated Kelly, 32, shortly after she split from her rugby hunk ex Danny Cipriani and at the time their romance was believed to be going from strength to strength.

Matthew initially denied they were an item, telling OK! magazine at the time: "There's nothing going on with me and Kelly. She's lovely and I've known her for a while - we met when she was over in LA."

But the former lovebirds quickly moved on from each other - Kelly is now dating former rugby ace Thom Evans while Matthew is seeing model Renee Puente and concentrating on his career.

Yet frustrated Matthew admits his work life isn't going as well as he'd hoped.

Discussing Glee, he confessed: "It's not ending any time soon. Once they have you, they trap you. I'm tied in to seven years - I signed up to seven years and I cannot get out of it. I have a really good lawyer but there's nothing we can do - I've had offers recently for a few really cool movies but had to turn them down. It's so frustrating.

"None of us realised when we signed up it'd turn into this - we thought it was just a show about kids singing and dancing. But I've done three years now, so I have another four to go - I literally cannot get out of it. It's a great show, it provided me with my big break, but what can I do?"

  • Brad Pitt and Sinitta

Yep, Brad Pitt really did step out with Simon Cowell's shadow. Well, not his real shadow, but the next best thing - Sinitta. The pair dated from 1987-89. (Pic: Rex)

  • Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton

It's hard to think of Ange pre-Pitt, but her union with Billy Bob was actually her second marriage. Angelina wed the Armageddon star who was 20 years her senior in 2000, only to divorce three years later. (Pic: PA)

  • Vanessa Feltz and Ben Ofoedu

After a failed marriage and years of life as a singleton, Vanessa hooked up with Phats and Small singer Ben Ofoedu. If that doesn't mean anything to you, perhaps this will - "Hey what's wrong with you? You're looking kind of down to me". (Pic: WENN)

  • Billie Piper and Chris Evans

When 18-year-old Billie tied the knot with DJ Chris Evans during a trip to Las Vegas in 2000, many said it wouldn't last. And, well, it didn't. However, despite ending their relationship three years later, the pair still remain great friends and they even attended each other's weddings to their current partners. (Pic: PA)

  • Cher and Tom Cruise

A few years ago, Cher revealed to the world she shared a romance with Tom during the 80s, describing him as "just the most adorable man you can imagine". (Pic: WENN)

  • George Clooney and Lisa Snowdon

Lisa Snowdon went from little-known model to Mrs George Clooney when she began dating the actor in 2000. They enjoyed an on-off five year romance, before finally calling off their love affair in 2005. (Pic: PA)

  • Kate Hudson and Matt Belamy l

Goldie Hawn's daughter Kate began dating Muse frontman Matt in 2010 and the pair welcomed their first son Bingham Hawn Bellamy in July last year. (Pic: WENN)

  • Charlie Brooker and Konnie Huq

Blue Peter host and Xtra Factor flop Konnie should be the epitome of everything TV grump Charlie criticises, but somehow the pair managed to make it work enough for them to wed last year. They're currently expecting their first child. (Pic: PA)

  • Lembit Opik and Gabriela Irimia

You really couldn't make this kind of pairing up. MP Lembit obviously wasn't shy in touching Gabriela's bum as he nabbed the Cheeky Girl in 2005, after ditching TV weather girl Sian Lloyd. (Pic: PA)

  • Mel B and Eddie Murphy

When the Spice Girls hung up their platform shoes, Mel headed stateside where she hooked up with the Nutty Professor star. When Mel claimed she was mothering Eddie's child in 2007, after the pair had broken up, Eddie ordered a paternity test, only to find he was the father of Angel Iris after all. (Pic: WENN)

  • Catherine Tate and Jason Orange

The Take That singer was rumoured to be dating the comedienne after they were spotted on a series of dates in 2011. However, the couple are recently said to have gone their separate ways. (Pic: Getty / PA)

Matthew Morrison has green eyes: Kelly's rugby man is way hotter than Glee boy

Matthew Morrison is not a gentleman nor a handsome man . His geeky/nerdy look is perfect for Glee but nothing else.

We should be careful what we say when we're going up the ladder as we'll get kicked a lot harder by those we have abused when coming back down.

His comments do not remotely seem chivalrous and denote him as nasty and mean

100% agree! Tom Hardy needs to punch him out for Britain! I'm glad I support REAL actors with talent and staying power who have far more charm, class, and handsome inside and out instead of a waste of time Morrison. Tom Hardy, Michael Fassbender, and James McAvoy are worthy of our attention and I can't imagine them being such mean douches to someone they went on one date with! Kelly had a miscarriage recently and is probably still sad about it. Talk about finding a way to hurt someone without cause. I hope Glee gets cancelled and Morrison is no more!

I hope he realizes that without Glee he might not have been offered that movie role he had to turn down.

hahahahahaha - kettle teapot - Kelly has never signed a seven year contract she didn't want to be in, makes her 7 years brighter than you chumpy Morrison

I dont believe Kelly B has claimed to anything other than what she is, a very beautiful young lady who earns her money through modelling and getting her important "issues" out in the open. She may at times lay claim to being an actress but then so do many of the so called major actors and actresses who can just about walk on a repeat lines laid out in front of them. Cant see the point in slagging or why the media would be interested in what a nodbody has to say about anything much?

"I have a really good lawyer but there's nothing we can do"

Maybe he should have had a "really good lawyer" explain up front that people are expected to HONOUR any contract they CHOOSE TO SIGN.

Obviously, this guy's not the sharpest knife.

It's well known though that producers have the upper hand by signing actors for seven year contracts. They sure as hell don't pay them the full term if the show is pulled after 1 series. You can see the frustration of having to agree to this bias just to get work.

What a charming gent he is!

He is already backpedaling ... he tweeted to his followers that he and Kelly are friends. With friends calling you stupid on national TV who needs enemies? Matthew Morrison reminds me once again why I prefer to support actors with real star quality, James McAvoy, Tom Hardy, Michael Fassbender .... now those are men who show us real handsome and sexy with talent all the time.

don't think you would have to be the brain of Britian to realise Kelly Brook is really not that bright, you only have to listen to her when she opens her mouth in interviews to realise that.
