Chinese Woman Rescued After Suicide Attempt From 32nd Floor Window

The dramatic rescue of a young woman threatening to throw herself from a 32nd floor window has been caught on camera.

The 24-year-old was spotted on the ledge of a building in the central Chinese city of Changsha on Tuesday.

Police spent three hours trying to talk her down off the ledge but in the end decided to pull her to safety.

It later emerged the woman had tried to cut her left wrist with a stone.

According to the Daily Mail, the woman had once participated in a dating show.

She reportedly told police officers: “I don’t have love, I don’t have a job, my family hates me, and everyone is very disappointed in me.”

In 2010 there were 287,000 officially recorded suicides in China, the Wall Street Journal said. The figure makes the act the fifth largest cause of death in the country and the number one cause among young people.
