Why Rihanna's Switching Off Adele's Album '21'

Rihanna

Rihanna can no longer listen to Adele's music - because she finds the break-up tracks too "depressing".

The Umbrella hitmaker is a huge fan of the British soul sensation, but admits the singer's heartbreaking love songs are often too much for her to bear.

She tells British talk show host Jonathan Ross, "It's hard to say a (favourite) track. The last album 21 just spoke to me so much - to the point where I had to stop listening to it 'cause it was depressing me so much. You become so attached to the stories, it's really something you identify with."

The Bajan beauty also joked she only agreed to appear at the Brit Awards in London last month in the hope of bumping into Adele.

She quipped, "Really I came to the Brits to stalk Adele. It was nothing about the awards or the performance, for me it was just to see Adele again. She doesn't know the depth of my affection, just the surface. She has no idea."

Both are great stars.

Rihanna is sexy as hell but Adele songs may last a bit longer.

The truth is she can't listen to someone consistently more talented than her and who doesn't need to flash gallons of flesh to maintain recognition - if that's the appropriate word.

Something that irritated me when I saw the Brits and its two words: IRON MAIDEN!! where the hell were they?? Oh of course they don't appeal to the airheads and consumerists of the general population and record execs despite representing Britain in the music industry for over 30 years and making a ton of money in the process...give me a break

Iron Maiden, they were crap when they were good, and that's why they weren't there, not good enough to win any award,I doubt they would want to be on the Brits anyway. Not in the same class as Led Zeppelin,in fact not in the same school.

What are you talking about! I saw Maiden live last year and it was the best show i'd seen in my life! For guys in their fifties to be able to play as well and perform as well as they do is incredible! They were never crap except when Blaze Bayley was lead vocalist and how can you compare Maiden to Zeppelin? You're right they're not in the same school but Zeppelin were the forerunners to modern hard rock and helped pioneer the genre whereas Maiden helped usher in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. Comparing rock to metal divides the issue entirely. Sounds to me like you just don't like metal in relation to classic rock?

I would have liked to here Rhianna stand up and sing live with no gimmicks, backing, computer enhancement, voice balancers etc etc and she has started to make everything she sings sound the same :/

Maybe she just switched it off because she realised she only had to turn on the radio to hear Adele every 5 minutes.

That is so true. Every single morning when I go to work I hear adele. It is very depressing.

I love "21" but I get what she's saying. I remember around 10 years ago one of my friends came to my apartment and literally took my Sarah McLachlan "Surfacing" away from me. I had gone through a bad breakup and was spending LOTS of time listening to that CD and crying. If I had fresh breakup memories, I wouldn't be able to listen to "21" either

Sarah McLachlan's "Surfacing" is the most beautiful album she's ever done.

Thought it was just me who finds her not only depressing but boring - c'mon Rhianna, lets hear you belt out a track that you have written without the musical help of computers.

Not going to happen. She cannot sing - people who buy her music must seriously be tone deaf.
