Angel Babcock, a 20-month-old girl who desperately clung onto life after being thrown 300 feet by a tornado in America, has died.
She had been blown into a field by the violent gusts of winds which swept through southern and Midwest America.
Her family's mobile home was destroyed by the tornado, and her mum and dad, Joseph, 21, Moriah, 20, and her siblings, Jaydon, three, and seven-week-old Kendall were all killed.
Angel became the focus of the country's grief after being found alive, with prayers being said for her across America.
Yesterday, the little girl died at Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, where she had been since Friday night.
Doctors said the swelling she had suffered on her brain had not decreased, and she had started to deteriorate on Saturday. Her remaining family made the heartbreaking decision to turn off her life support system when medics told them there was no sign of brain activity.
Angel's grandfather Jack Brough said: "Angel has been reunited with her parents. We didn't want her to suffer any more. It was time for her to be with her parents and her brother and sister.
"We want to thank God for all of you and for your thoughts and prayers. God will bring you and all of us out of this. This is what it will take. All should look to God."
Mr Brough had been one of the first people to arrive at the scene after the tornado hit Angel's home town of New Pekin, Indiana.
He told reporters that he and other family members rushed to her home once the storm passed, but could see the whole area was flattened: "I kept saying, 'Oh, my God! Oh, my God!' I was breathing so hard. I couldn't see my daughter's trailer nowhere... it was gone. We just started hollering."
A friend of the family, Sherry Young, explained how Angel was found 'in the middle of the field all alone. It's a miracle she survived, but she was very badly hurt.'
A neighbour of the Babcocks, Jason Miller, said he had seen the family praying in their trailer just minutes before storm reached them. He ran to their trailer to offer them shelter in his larger mobile home but was hurled across the road by the winds, breaking several bones.
The tornado ripped through 17 states from the Gulf Coast to the Great Lakes over the weekend, leaving Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio the worst hit.
Such a sad story. RIP, Angel.
