"Carrying a child is a great privilege and sometimes, really hard work, filled with sacrifices: your unborn child is at the mercy of your willpower, be it good or bad," she said.
"You have a defenceless human being to consider. Smoking while pregnant is irresponsible, selfish and utterly reprehensible."
Following the revelations about Stacey, she was axed from a Mum Of The Year competition, but Sarah also hit out at the celebrity mums remaining on the list.
The National Lottery presenter labelled fellow nominees Katie Price, Natalie Cassidy and Natasha Giggs a "washed up glamour model", a "self-confessed victim of mental abuse at the hands of her baby daddy" and a "home wrecker with a predilection for keeping it in the family".
"If that's the best we can do in the world of celebrity parenting then I'm fearing for our Nation's offspring," she said.

It was ridiculously naive of Stacey Solomon to think that she would not be discovered: after all, her little indiscretion took place outside a tv studio where there are always paps lurking: Stacey you plonker.
Icelandic Christmases stand out like a good deed in a naughty world and ever since I've returned from there, I'm droopy with the realisation that Blighty's is anaemic, commercial and sucky in comparison.
One cannot expect to be in the public eye and be left alone. If you don't want to be criticised then stay out of sight. Maybe smoking isnt the best thing to be doing but she isnt doing drugs, getting drunk or that kind of thing. Perhaps she did deliberately smoke outside the studio to be seen to give herself publicity- that has bitten her in the backside and possibly wrecked her career- though think of certain other celebrities who have done things, been caught, fallen from grace and then suddenly come back with a huge career all things forgiven. At least She isnt a bankrupt ex junkie....

Who on earth is this sarah cawood I've never heard of her. Stacey has admitted to smoking whilst pregnant she has also said that although she hasn't managed to stop smoking altogether she has managed to cut down to 3 a day which is an achievement for someone who has been smoking for a long time. Stacey ignore all the so called 100% perfect do gooders and carry on loving your little family the way you have, we still love you

I think everyone should give her a break and who the hell is Sarah Cawood?? its very difficult these days, my daughter in law when pregnant had a whole list of things she was not allowed to eat, soft cheese, liver, red meats. pate, eggs, icecream etc etc to name a few, I on the other hand when pregnant, ate all of these things and had 3 beautiful kids all weighing a very healthy weight my last being 81b 7oz, I smoked through my pregnancy but not as often, I also had a cheeky glass of wine now and then, yet to me there seems to be more and more children born with ailments and disabilitys these days, it makes me wonder that not eating this and not eating that, maybe the course of some of it, Stacey is clearly embarrassed about being caught smoking, and with all the hateful things being said about her is probably smoking all the more with all the stress, leave her alone, its not healthy we all know that now, but she is obviously having a difficult time trying to quit, and no doubt this isnt helping her!!!

Both mine, and my parents generation smoked, drank in moderation, ate red meat and soft cheese, if we hadnt then we would have starved being the wartime and austerity parents when rationing was in place.
I can remember in my lifetime Doctors telling anxious Mums to be, and patients in general to go out and buy a packet of cigarettes rather than dishing out pills, think Thalidomide, which caused the most harm, that or a cigarette or two?
I remember the Doctor and Midwife who delivered all my children ( I had them all at home ) smoking away during delivery, I smoked myself, and had four children, all of healthy weight, who never ailed a thing in childhood, and have grown to be healthy adults of normal weight, as indeed have their children.
So, to all the hand wringing, hysterical, sobbing brigade I say leave Stacy alone, there are far worse things she could be doing, such as sticking her nose into everyone elses business because there is not enough going on in their own lives!!

Good point and well said... I had two children when smoking wasn't an issue and they weighed 8lb and 9lb... When I had my third child the 'smoking police' demanded I quit, so I did... result was my smallest baby and ragged placenta... Now they are all grown up, the two eldest don't smoke and the one I quit smoking with does... I hate smoking now, but would never lecture or condemn anyone who choses to smoke... It's up to the individual... Give Stacey a break!

Christmas and new years eve 2011 my daugter was smoking and drinking. The Saturday after she was moving heavy boxes as she was moving house. On the same Saturday night she phoned me to ask if I would take her to hospital. She was told at 1.30am Sunday morning she was pregnant, 10.04am same morning she gave birth to a lovely baby boy, he was perfect. She had done everything wrong, and my grandson was perfect. I am not encouraging this, but it does show, we cannot generalise.
