Marilyn Monroe Still Bewitches In 50th Anniversary Exhibition At Getty Images Gallery In London

Marilyn Monroe continues to bewitch her many fans half a century after her death.

To mark the 50th anniversary of her untimely passing, the Getty Images Gallery in London is mounting an exhibition, Marilyn, with a collection of photographs, dresses and other memorabilia, including original costumes worn by the star before her death in 1962.

There is the also the chance to see Monroe in action in a series of videos from her life in the spotlight, from her years as an aspiring actress through to her era as a troubled but still beguiling icon on the set of her last film Something's Got To Give.

Louise Garczewska, Director, Getty Images Gallery says: “We are extremely excited to present our Marilyn exhibition, offering the public unparalleled and rare access to Marilyn’s life through the iconic imagery from Getty Images’ extensive archival collection. David Gainsborough Roberts 9the owner of the world's largest private collections of Monroe memorabilia) has kindly loaned us Marilyn’s dresses which the public can see in London for the first time ever, making this exhibition a perfect tribute to one of Hollywood’s greats.”

Marilyn runs from Friday 9 March to Sunday 23 May 2012 and admission is free.

The Getty Images Gallery is situated in central London near Oxford Circus Tube Station. Opening hours are Monday to Friday 10am-5.30pm and Saturday 12pm-5.30pm. A smaller exhibition will also be on display at Getty Images Gallery in Westfield Stratford City from 23 March to 3 June 2012. See some of the pictures below:
