Coronation Street: Sophie Webster To Turn To Drugs To Ease Heartbreak? (SPOILER)

Coronation Street troubled teen Sophie Webster could turn to drugs to ease her heartbreak.

The lesbian teenager - played by 19-year-old Brooke Vincent - is left confused and lonely following the departure of her two loves, Sian Powers and Amber Kalirai.

And the Daily Mirror has reported that Sophie, 17, could be seen dabbling with drugs in a controversial new storyline.

A Corrie insider revealed soap bosses were considering a new plot which would see Sophie introduced to drugs by Ryan Connor, the son of barmaid Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh).

Ryan, played by Ben Thompson, has been at university in Glasgow and is set to return to the cobbles as a "very dark character" having picked up some extremely dangerous habits while he was away.

Ryan - who dated Sophie's former fiancee Sian before he left the Street - could be set to pass on bad habits to Sophie.

Sophie was dumped by Sian (Sacha Parkinson), who fled after discovering Sophie had fallen for her straight friend Amber.

Amber, played by 21-year-old Nikki Patel, is also being written out of the show.

Someone tell Deardri to cover her neck up! My God, her and that ugly one on Eastenders, there really should be a law against it. Get the uglies off the screen. Retire, smoke in peace and stop scaring the children.

That f****t Collinson, his mind is in the gutter . . . just where he belongs. He is incapable of developing storylines that aren't controversial.

just copying from other soap storylines and that is what makes these soaps so utterly boring
because writers have no unusual ideas for storylines
I believe they get paid very well for Plagiarism?

I have not watched Corrie for a number of years because of boring story lines. However I realise that Corrie enjoys a unique platform, whether they like it or not, to make social comments and be taken seriously. I think this drug story line is extremely dangerous and will give the wrong signals to the impressionable young in our midst who are already battered with unemployment and other heartbreaks.

It seems that television producers, when they are stuck for a storyline always bring drugs into programmes. Surely this gives the impression that if your depressed or upset, lets turn to drugs. It's a cop out and encourages vunerable people to think, "I'll try drugs."

they should write her out of the programme. She can't act to save her life and her accent just grates on your nerves. She is thick as mince in real life as well.

I like Corrie becaue unlike Eastenders, they have a bit of humour but there's no need to keep on having these depressing storylines. They've had a rape and a murder, isn't that enough for the year. Corrie writers, please don't follow Eastenders with these depressing storylines.

the problem is the idiot now in charge of corrie is ex eastenders hence all the idiotic PC stories, the sooner he is gone the better.

Too much. Much too much.

Can't we have a return to sensible story lines? How many deaths in the street? How many mass-murderers etc...it's getting ridiculous.
