Peter Andre Moving Cancer-Stricken Brother To UK

Peter Andre

Peter Andre is moving his sick brother to England so he can be at his side as he fights kidney cancer.

The Mysterious Girl singer has hired a contractor to expand his home so Andrew and his wife will have a place to live while he undergoes chemotherapy.

In his New! magazine column, he said: "At the moment, my brother Andrew is recovering from his operations for his cancer, and the big news is in a couple of weeks he's moving over to live with me with his wife Magda.

"They're going to live with me and my other brothers Mike, Danny and Chris in my house and we're going to look after him while he has treatment."

Pete admitted he would worry about the emotional toll on his elderly parents if Andrew were to stay in Australia.

He added: "Our whole family discussed it and decided it together. My parents, who live in Australia, are nearly 80 and I really don't want them to see Andrew going through the chemotherapy and all that stuff. My dad had such terrific treatment over here when he was ill last year, so he knows that it's the best place for Andrew.

"I'm going to build a small extension onto my house so there's room for everyone! It's not definite they're all going to move in, but at the moment that's the plan. I need an extension so that when I've got the kids there will be room for all of us."

Can't believe the general tone of the comments on here.. he is moving his brother BACK to the UK for treatment and extending his home so that he can accomodate everyone comfortably. There are 5 Andre brothers in total and they will all be together supporting each other and giving Andrew the best chance possible to recover from a horrible illness. It's an amazing thing to do and who cares if he publicises it? His job is publicity, I don't think he would deny that.
People on here are so bitter and negative, let's not forget at the centre of this is a very sick man. But no, people are going on about immigration, the NHS, medicare, tax payers money blahblahblah. For a start Peter and his brothers are British, secondly I think they will probably choose to go with private medical care and even if they don't, they have a right to use the NHS as taxpayers in this country, same as anyone else. Whatever happened to just wishing someone well...

Once again very well said, I wish I could fan you again. Faved.

I think this is great that this family of brother sticks together and helps out eachother. I have been helping my brother after his cancer operation and treatments. Let me say it is not pretty!!!! Anyone thinking that one would do this for publicitiy is wrong! Cancer is horrible and the treatments are worse. Heartbreaking seeing the toll it takes on a loved one. People need to think of that! Because if they think they will never be in contact with someone going through this they are wrong.

So sorry to hear of your brother.. I must say, in my family, thus far, there has been no cancer on any side (touchwood there won't be) but there is heart disease on both sides and it's not pretty, but I don't think it is a touch on cancer. I can't imagine watching a loved one go through it. You must be very strong... I really wish you all the best, with a fab family around him he will have the best chance any one possibly could to make a full recovery.

Is he moving him to England because the treatment is free.

Wish we had that kind of coverage here. Here in America my brothers treatments are going to take everything he ever worked for because he lost his job and insurance when his company moved to mexico. They have already taken his savings of 140,000. and are going after his inheritence. Nice to be alive, now what is he going to live on?

I think it's wonderful what he is doing, pity there isn't more people like him around.
I wish his family well.

Nice to hear there's someone left in this country with an ounce of positivity left in them...

how long is this non newsworthy story going to run. We've all had enough of talentless Andre.
00:48 on 14/03/2012
What sort of visa is he coming to the UK on? Why is he coming here for treatment when he can get the same care in Australia but over there you have to pay for it. I just hope that the British tax payer is not going to have to foot the NHS bill for an Australian citizen.
11:34 on 14/03/2012
Peter Andre and his family are entitled to NHS care if they wish - they were born in this country! However I think Peter is probably perfectly capable of paying for private treatment for his brother if that is what they choose. Stop being so selfish.

I wouldnt say peter andres career has made any difference to my life but fair play to him for doing what he can to help his family.i expect any care his brother gets would no doubt be private and even if it werent could you blame him?.who wouldnt do what it took for a loved one to try and get better

but he can get the same care in australia, imagine the stress his mum and dad are going to be under not seeing him on a regular basis, the brother has a wife over there to care for him and imagine how he's going to feel after a long haul flight while he's suffering from cancer, it's not what i'd put a loved one suffering from cancer through and what happens if andre doesn't get planning permission to build an extension will he go ahead with it if he gets refused,

Unfortunately, Cancer hit millions of families each year, back in the late sixties, I lost a cousin to breast cancer,10 year later an Uncle too bowel cancer, since then, the wives of two close and respected friends to lung cancer. I am in my second marriage and have suffered the loss of two loving in-laws, that had come to mean a lot to me, from breast and bowel cancer in that order. The wife of the Bowel cancer victim worries us all, as she as had part of her lung removed through cancer. My question is WHAT gives a not a very good singer? The right to publicity because he as the misfortune of a sick brother. Yes bring his family over here, even if you can get treatment on the N,H.S,. Your Bro needs all he can get to help him survive, what kills me is, is it a publicity stunt?

I have had lots of comments regarding my previous comments and I think you missed the point I made, the point |I was trying to make was the NHS is already overstretched we do not need any further pressure put on it, I have always liked Peter and have utmost respect for him the way he treats his kids and family.
23:42 on 13/03/2012
Who said that he was to be treated on the NHS or are you just jumping to conclusions? There is plenty of private treatment available here!
00:51 on 14/03/2012
There is a reciprocal agreement in place between Australia and the UK unfortunately in Australia you have to pay for the best treatment whereas here you get it for free.
22:00 on 13/03/2012
surely it would be cheaper for peter to stay there rather than build an extension, but i wish him well all the same.

I think it's because 4 of the Andre brothers are here permanently now due to business and because Pete's kids live here. So all in all, it's not going to hurt him in the long run to extend his home and I guess he thought now is the time so that he can bring the last brother (the sick one, Andew) over for treatment here and all the brothers can be together. Plus, he said he didn't want his parents in Australia to have to see his brother go through that because they're in their 80s now.

If you emigrate to Australia you have to show you will not be a burden to their own Health Service. You are not allowed to claim free treatment for a few years. If you are elderly you have to produce medical insurance at the border.Thats the way it is and should be here too
19:18 on 13/03/2012
There is no NHS in Australia. Almost everyone has medical cover.
19:51 on 13/03/2012
Medicare is the Aussie equivalent to our NHS. I had two children at public hospitals and never had to use the Private system when I lived there. And no, not nearly everyone has private cover, it's too expensive.
11:37 on 14/03/2012
lilly4, please only comment when you know what you are talking about. Australia has Medicare, which is the same as the NHS.
00:53 on 14/03/2012
It depends whether you are going to Australia to reside or just visit, your comments are regarding the latter. As a visiter you can get free public hospital treatment in Australia which is not up to the british standards.
11:38 on 14/03/2012
Actually I would have said the free public hospital treatment received in Australia is every bit as good as the NHS, if not better.
18:27 on 13/03/2012
Who said anything about the NHS footing the bill? Don't jump to conclusions unless you have ALL the information.
20:11 on 13/03/2012
well im not concerned about the NHS what about Immigration !! wont they have a say in this or is that just for us poor unknowns
21:36 on 13/03/2012
Immigration is a separate matter, but consider the 10,000 UK residents that emigrate to Australia and New Zealand evry year - are they on "the make" too? Certainly not, for they pay their way just as those coming to this country, where they have simply chosaen to do so, do as well. The world is a small place - let's not get too aggresive over a few chosing to live somewhere else, especially when they are prepared to pay their way.
00:51 on 14/03/2012
They are coming to stay while their brother is in treatment for cancer so they can be at his side and help care for him. Peter has children in the UK and a life of his own here. If you had the means to put your family up in a crisis would you not do so.
As far as I know, they are not seeking citizenship. Even if they eventually did, I somehow don't think it would be to abuse our benefits system lol.
