Radiohead became the latest act to be targeted by members of religious extremist group the Westboro Baptist Church when their show in Missouri was picketed by angry activists on Saturday.

The anti-gay protesters lay in wait for the band as they arrived at the venue in Kansas City and became a talking point on the organisation's website.

One post read, "God is undoing this nation and effecting (sic) all of your lives, with the moth that quietly eats the very fabric of your national garment. Radiohead is just such an event. Freak monkey's (sic) with mediocre tunes keeps you busy and focused by lightness."

However, Radiohead refused to let the protest upset them and they actually found the backlash a little amusing.

The band's producer, Nigel Godrich, even tweeted that the protest was the "highlight" of the US tour.

He posted a picture of the picket line and wrote: "Highlight of the tour so far... Being picketed by Westboro Baptist Church this evening.. Hoorah!... Freak monkeys with mediocre tunes... New band concept."

Winston Churchill said that you judge someone not by his friends but by his enemies. Someone with no enemies, he said, obviously never stood for anything even once in his life.

Having an enemy in the Westboro Baptist Church is nothing less than a badge of honor for Radiohead, the best band on Earth.

The sad thing is the people picketing, though they have every right to, are oblivious to the fact that what is truly undoing the nation is bigotry and intolerance. A church such as Westboro Baptist will always justify their actions by way of their interpretation of scripture. They are right in the ugliness they perpetuate. Yes, they have the right to voice their rejection of Radiohead. What about the right of the people who purchased a ticket to enjoy an evening out listening to a band they like? We can all act on our rights as citizens to Occupy and carry signs. Most of us live our lives. Many of us are really happy. What must it feel like inside of someone's mind to always be angry and frustrated and afraid of the world. Wouldn't it be nice if The Westboro Baptist Church used their good Christian values to help some folks in need? I really do wonder what Jesus would do?

"A church such as Westboro Baptist will always justify their actions by way of their interpretation of scripture."

Doesn't anybody doing anything in the name of their religious belief justify it by what they derive from their cultures scripture?

"The Westboro Baptist Church used their good Christian values to help some folks in need?"

Well the WBC shows the inherent poison religious belief breeds, that when someone believes irrational beliefs, they cannot be moved by rational arguments, so from their perspective they *are* using good Christian values to help folks in need, they are trying to "save" them.

What greater good than to help save your fellow man from an eternity of fire. It's a dangerous belief to think you're doing good, when you're doing bad, and not be able to tell.

The WBC has no good christian values, that's where the problem lies, they, like too many others, cherry pick the bible to support their own messed up biases and agendas. Someone would first need to teach them good values, christian or otherwise.

Yes. It's as if there is some evil puppet master they've given their souls to just to have the fame and glory. Do they really sleep well at night? Out right lies. What about their children? How can they teach them values of anykind?
