Fenstanton Primary School: Head Quits After Mother Stabbed In Front Of Pupils

A headteacher has quit a Brixton primary school less than a month after a parent was stabbed in the head in front of horrified pupils.

Sally Hindle resigned from her post at Fenstanton School, Tulse Hill, stating her time had been "challenging but enjoyable", Your Local Guardian reported.

"There is no doubt this is a demanding school to work in," she told prospective candidates applying for the deputy head position.

The announcement of Hindle's resignation came two weeks after the alleged attack took place. Unemployed Serfina Elliot was reported to have attacked 40-year-old Nadine Walker with scissors, leaving her with a cut to her skull.

At the time, Hindle sent a letter to parents saying: "The children must have been absolutely horrified at what was happening in front of them and for this to happen in a classroom at a primary school is very, very troubling."

Elliot appeared in court in February but did not enter a plea.

A spokesperson for Lambeth Council confirmed Hindle had left voluntarily and added that the school is to join the Gipsy Hill Federation, alongside three other Lambeth schools.

Craig Tunstall, the executive head of the school, appeared in the news last year after he was sacked by Croydon Council for suspending seven pupils in his first two days as head.

He is also one of 200 London headteachers who earn more than the prime minister.
