Simon Cowell is refusing to confirm or deny rumours he is chasing Britney Spears for America's The X Factor, telling fans they'll have to "wait and see" if the pop star becomes a judge on the show.
The Toxic singer is reportedly in contract talks to replace either Paula Abdul or Nicole Scherzinger, but Cowell is refusing to let viewers know just how close she is to signing up - or if the rumours are true.
He says, "You'll have to wait and see... I can't confirm or deny anything right now. The truth is, we are talking to a number of people. It changes on a daily basis, to be honest with you."
But Cowell has revealed that two new names have been added to the mix since the beginning of the week - a singer and a "very famous actress".
Cowell and the producers of the talent show axed judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul and host Steve Jones at the end of the first season of the show and have been looking for replacements since the beginning of the year.
Other stars who had been linked to the job include Janet Jackson, Beyonce and late singer Whitney Houston.
