During his long and successful career the most substantial difference we’ve seen in Billy Connolly is when he dyed his beard purple.

Well, it's time for more change as the stand-up comedian, actor and musician has turned his hand to contemporary art.

Born on a Rainy Day is Connolly’s first collection and was launched this week at the Halcyon Gallery in London before setting off on a nationwide tour from 17 March.

The 69 year-old Glaswegian, inspired by an art shop in Montreal, took to sketching back in 2007 and started work on this current collection two years ago.

Afraid I cannot stand the man if his art is as bawdy as his vocal shows glad I will be missing it.

Comedian, someone should remind this obnoxious creature about Ken Bigley, nothing funny about that.
