Brian Dowling Tells Of Mugging Terror

Big Brother star Brian Dowling was left fearing for his life after he was mugged at knife-point on Wednesday.

The Irish-born TV host was just yards away from his south west London flat when he was ambushed by two thugs who shoved him into an alley and forced him to hand over his valuables.

He told The Sun: "They emptied the contents of my wallet, went through my pockets and took my phone. I was terrified. I live in a lovely area, it was only nine at night and was only 30 seconds from my apartment.

"You don't expect it at that time of night, or on a quiet residential street."

Brian thought the hoodies were holding a gun to his throat until he realised it was a blade.

"All I could think of was, 'Are they going to stab me?'" he said.

The robbers let Dowling go and he immediately phoned police, who have launched an investigation.

Brian added: "I felt physically sick when I got home."

A Scotland Yard spokesman confirms: "At around 9pm on Wednesday we were called to reports of a man in his 30s being robbed. No arrests have been made at present."

When are we going to call this what it is? It is ARMED ROBBERY. and the culprits should be charged as such. It's about time we started to get hard with criminals and shut them away for a long time - no time off for good behaviour - no TV or privileges - if they were capable of good behaviour they wouldn't have committed the crime. AND if they are foreigners deport them when they have served the sentence.

He isnt the first and wont be the last , it happened to my son in the school dinner time .One lad got him around the neck, while the other holding a knife riffled his pockets and took his phone .Only trouble was my son didnt let it deter him , he said if it happens it happens .Now every time he goes out , I am the one on edge .He was only 14 at the time , so imagine how scary it was for him , but you and him are the lucky ones , some have been killed .

Bless him, poor Brian. He did the right thing by handing over his valuables. He must have been scared stiff.

So this is how bad the economy is getting, the thugs know were there are easy pickings in middle class areas were the people are law abiding. Citizens are being mugged because they have no way to protect themselves. The attitude of the law is such that you have to hand over all you possessions to these thugs. The law is such that it produces disarmed victims. It has been seen that if you defend yourself then you take the law into your own hands and that you become a criminal if you try to defend yourself. Pepper spray should be made a legal weapon to protect yourself or you are allowed to carry a small blade (swiss army knife) for protection.

lol - so the next time someone gets mugged they get pepper sprayed and jabbed with a swiss army knife - are you for real?

The problem isn't criminalising the victims, the problem is that the criminals get pathetic sentences which are usually community orders, which they just ignore anyway.
Prisons shouldn't be the cushy hotel like places that they are, they hold no deterent to the habitual criminal.
There has been criminals released early in Scotland who after a day or two of FREEDOM(sorry) have turned back up at the prison gates demanding to finish the remainder of their sentence, would this happen anywhere else on earth?

Well done for staying calm Brian, unfortunately there is a lot of scum on our streets supported by a soft justice system.
