Fergie is the latest US star to throw her hat in the ring for a stint on the stateside version of X Factor.
An insider has told Life & Style magazine that "there have been some conversations", with further info that it was the Black Eyed Peas singer who made the first move to Simon Cowell and his fellow X Factor producers.
The negotiating merry-go-round, with Britney Spears and Janet Jackson both among the names mentioned for the new season's panel, follows last season's dramatic cull of judges. It saw the removal of judge Paula Abdul, and co-hosts Nicole Scherzinger and Steve Jones.
At least they fared better than Cheryl Cole, who didn't even make it to the TV rounds, being unceremoniously dumped by US producers after the audition stage of the competition.
Life & Style also reports that Glee star Darren Criss has said no to the hosting gig, so it appears there may be a few more rounds of musical chairs before the names are announced once and for all.
