Marc Jacobs Continues In His Quest To Get Men Into Skirts. Fails (Again).

Sorry Marc Jacobs. It really doesn't matter how many times you decide to pop on a dress or skirt to go about your day, this is one 'trend' that just ain't going to catch on with the male of the species.

Let's face it, if David Beckham can't get away with it, then there really is no hope for the rest of us (unless you're Scottish. Just.)

To be fair, the fashion designer's latest take on the 'man skirt' is a little more conservative than the pink t-shirt dress he wore to an event at Paris Fashion Week earlier this month (we're still having fashion nightmares over that little number. Brrrrr) but we're still not buying it.

And according to Marc - neither is he, well not from his own menswear collection at least.

He recently told New York magazine: "I did a lot more skirts in this collection for women than I usually do - we usually do a lot of pants. So I bought this one, and I discovered how nice it felt to wear.

"They’re comfortable, and wearing it made me happy, so I bought more. And now I just can’t stop wearing them.”

We noticed.

But will he be introducing them in his next menswear collection? That'll be a resounding “No.”

Hurrah for that.

This was a trend they were trying to push men's skirts (unsuccessfully) into fashion runways in the 80's as well ... especially the whole "punk rocker in a kilt with combat boots look." The problem is, unless you have a well built body with killer legs and calve muscles that are the envy of everyone, no one looks good in a tight skirt... least of all a man. Maybe a kilt. Maybe... but not a dress, not a miniskirt.

Unbelievable! There are so many small minded people in the world. So a woman can pick up a pair of pants... no problem. If a man looks at a skirt he's labeled "silly", "disgusting", "perverted". Not to mention women wearing "boyfriend" jackets, "boyfriend" jeans, waistcoats, fedoras, oxford shoes for Pete’s sake!

What is wrong with a guy wanting to wear what's comfortable? This isn't about trying to look like a woman. How about a man wearing a polo or button down shirt, jean skirt or even a knee length cargo skirt, and a pair of sneakers? I'm not quite sure what about that is trying to emulate a woman. I guess if I wanted to look like a woman I should wear a baseball cap, t-shirt, blue jeans, and some tennis shoes.

If we want to enforce the strictures between the sexes, how about denying all women from wearing pants and they must have long hair down past the shoulders. No exception. Yeah, that will happen. It seems like the three legged mammal is getting the short end of the stick.

Ok, from what I heard.. (But don't quote me!).. Marc lives with his Mum (In her basement actually, but don't tell anyone!.. shh!.. She only lets him out on.. 'Fashion weeks'.. I know, sad isn't it.) Anyway, he was at his Mum's and his Nan came round to there house to visit. Marc doesn't like his Nan, so he went down to his basement. After a while he got bored, so he decided to spray paint his shoes gold.. Goodness knows why!.. Anyway, he inhaled too much of the spray paint and when he came back upstairs again he was feeling rather naughty.. (because of the spray paint fumes I suppose, just guessing though. ?? )
So anyway, on a whim.. You know how it is.. You don't?.. Oh ok.. Marc took his mums skirt from the laundry basket, put it on and decided to go out in it. As he went out the door he noticed his Nan's coat hanging up. Looking at it he thought.. To hell with it! I don't like the bi**ch anyway! And he put her coat on too!. Well I never!..

....you know how it is... a guy with the name Marc Jacob will not spend money so his mum and nan's clothes will do just fine, I'm surprised he didn't sell them though.

Anyway, what was I saying?.. Oh! I almost forgot! He never goes out without one of his Mums Handbags.. Don't ask me why.. this story's getting too long as it is!.. tut.. Ah?.. What's with the pink dress you ask?.. Well, he hates his niece too.. Say no more!.. And the black Adam Ant shoes?.. Well that's anyone's guess!.. But, on the up side, at least he wears socks when he gos out, even though they're his Dad's and not his.. Tee hee!

You know, people should wear whatever the hell they want, if they are happy, comfy and it is unoffensive (not in taste, but in body parts on show) then what does it matter. In my opinion, he looks ridiculous, I wouldn't want my hubby wearing it, but that is why we live in a free world, with freedom of choice, some people may hate what I choose to wear, but it's my choice not theirs..wear what you like, if it makes you feel good, then go for it!

What a sick world we live in.

Why does a silly man wearing a man-skirt make the World sick?
12:05 PM on 03/23/2012
Arkleson: Perhaps because there is no such a thing as a ''man-skirt'' any more than there is such a thing as a woman-jockstrap? There is only one type of person who would attempt to cloud the differences between genders and that is one which has no clear gender identity.

At one time women wearing trousers was considered inappapropriate, even obscene, and even when they did catch on as a fashion item, they were only ever worn informally - never for any serious or formal event or for work or school where skirts were mandatory.

I would hazard a guess that his attire is the least of his worries...

A man in a kilt is very stylish, there are other countries where a 'skirt' is the male national dress, ok, but that loony looks so bad in the outfits he wears I can only guess he wears them for a bet. What a twonk.
