Pixie Lott wore something a little unexpected to the UK premiere of The Pirates! In An Adventure With Scientists! on Wednesday night (21 March). But, before you write it off as just an odd choice on a pretty girl we'd like to suggest that Pixie is actually picking up on a red carpet mini-trend...

The singer's aubergine print outfit by Dolce & Gabbana comprised a cropped top and below-the-knee skirt worn with a jacket in the same print. The matchy-matchy bare midriff look isn't just confined to Pixie's wardrobe - Miley Cyrus did something similar with her Pucci outfit at The Hunger Games Los Angeles premiere and Scarlett joined in the trend with her We Bought a Zoo Dolce & Gabbana dress.

The only thing we would say about Pixie's take on the look is that as the aubergine print packs a visual punch she could easily have left the jacket at home to prevent kitchen-themed overkill...
