But with the constant headlines of such intimate material being placed in the wrong hands, it was only a matter of time before someone realised the comedic potential... Jason Segel is that man.

The Muppets star will reunite with his Bad Teacher director Jake Kasdan in the upcoming movie, where he is tipped to play a husband who decides to spice up his love life by making an intimate video with his wife.

But plans go awry when the happily married couple wake up and realise the tape has gone missing, reported Variety.

Reese Witherspoon, Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Rose Byrne and Jennifer Garner were in the mix to play the wife, but there's no word on which actresses are still up for the role.

Segel stars in hit TV series How I Met Your Mother, and will next be seen in forthcoming comedies Jeff, Who Lives At Home, The Five-Year Engagement and This Is Forty.
