Manchester United Striker Wayne Rooney Apologises For Breaking Jamie Thomas' Wrist With Shot

Wayne Rooful Over Breaking Boy's Bones

Wayne Rooney has come close to bursting a few nets in his career, but he can now claim to have broken someone's bones.

Nine-year-old Jamie Thomas is nursing a broken wrist after one of the Manchester United striker's wayward shots hit him prior to the Reds' clash with Wolves last Sunday.

Rooney executed the effort in the warm-up at Molineux and Jamie, attending with his father Andy, copped the brunt of the England international's full force.

He ducked and put his arms across his face to protect himself as the ball hurled towards him, only for it to smash into his brittle wrist.

The young United fan watched the first 45 minutes as the Red Devils strolled into a 3-0 lead, but was taken to a first aid centre at half time after his arm ballooned.

Jamie told The Daily Mail: "It all happened so fast, one minute I was watching Wayne take shots at goal and the next the ball was flying towards me.

"It was coming really fast and I just put my hands up.

"I felt like a rocket had hit my arm but I was buzzing because Wayne had kicked it.

"I thought my arm and wrist was okay but it was getting more painful."

Rooney has apologised for the accident and will send the nine-year-old a signed United shirt to make amends for hurting him.

Jamie has also been invited to visit United's training complex at Carrington and meet the players at our training ground.

It would seem as though Rooney's warm up carried over into the game, where he misplaced several passes in a subdued performance. Extraordinarily, Sky Sports' co-commentator for the game, Davie Provan, made him man of the match. Although it's doubtful he will receive a signed shirt...
