A Toulouse city square was evacuated due to a suspect package on Friday after a rally in support of the seven victims of murderer Mohammed Merah.
According to the Huffington Post in France, the square was evacuated just before 8pm local time.
Explosives experts detonated a parcel shortly afterwards, HuffPost France reported. The square was reopened shortly afterwards.
Thousands of people had gathered in the Place du Capitole on Friday to pay homage to the victims of the killer.
Police said that up to 4,000 people had gathered including people from the city's Jewish, Christian and Muslim communities.
The people in the square had rallied around the slogan "living together: equality, plurality, dignity".
The news comes after a tumultuous week Toulouse, in which the biggest manhunt in French history was launched to find the killer of seven people including three children and three soldiers.
That hunt ended in an extended stand-off with 23-year-old Mohammed Merah, who was shot in the head by police on Thursday.
