Real Madrid Attacker Cristiano Ronaldo Becomes Fastest Player To Score 100 La Liga Goals (VIDEO)

Viva Ronaldo

Real Madrid attacker Cristiano Ronaldo has surpassed club legend Ferenc Puskas to become the fastest player to score 100 La Liga goals.

The 27-year-old scored twice for Madrid as they thrashed Real Sociedad 5-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday night, and Ronaldo has now scored 101 league goals in 92 games, surpassing Puskas' record of 100 in 105 games.

The Portuguese won the Pichichi last season - the Spanish equivalent of the golden boot for highest goalscorer - with 40 goals from 32 games. A record in Spain's top tier.

Signed from Manchester United in 2009 for a world record £80m, he hit 26 strikes in his debut Spanish season and now has 35 in the current campaign, tied with Barcelona's Lionel Messi.

Real Madrid 5-1 Real Sociedad:

Messi became Barcelona's all-time top goalscorer on Wednesday evening when he netted a hat-trick to take his tally to 235 for the Blaugrana - beating Cesar Rodriguez's 57-year record.

Madrid lead Barcelona by seven points with nine games of the season remaining, and both teams meet for the season's fifth Clasico at Camp Nou on 22 April.

After modest totals of six, nine and 12 goals in his first three seasons at United, Ronaldo emerged as the team's talisman from 2006 onwards, bagging 23, 42 and 26 goals in successive seasons.

In the two immediate campaigns after the 2006 World Cup, he was voted PFA Player of the Year and the FWA Player of the year, as well as earning the Ballon d'Or and Fifa World Player of the Year accolades.
