Most of the time, being a news anchor is a relatively simple affair. You read the news, you interview someone, you shuffle your papers, you sign off.

Occasionally, something extraordinary happens. Something extraordinary like a man dressed as a zombie, carrying a briefcase, walking past you as the credits begin to roll. Jump to 3:00 in the video above to see what we mean.

Pity then poor Channel 4 News presenter Cathy Newman for having just that happen to her, with the stray deadite staring at her from behind a pane of glass.

The incident itself took place on Sunday evening, with Ms. Newman tweeting a picture of the undead visitor soon afterwards.

As for why he rocked up out of the blue, well, thanks because of the news story she was just reading out - about a zombie-based running app. All is explained if you replay the video from the beginning, in fact. The question is: is it April Fool Day yet? Unbelievably, no it isn't.
