Scarlett Johansson Nude Photos: Hacker Christopher Chaney Faces 60 Years In Jail (PICTURES)

Huffington Post UK  |  By Posted: 27/03/2012 12:53 Updated: 27/03/2012 13:17

A man who admitted hacking into Scarlett Johansson’s mobile phone and posting nude photographs of the actress online is facing 60 years behind bars.

Christopher Chaney, 35, admitted unauthorised computer access, wire-tapping and other felony charges at a hearing in Los Angeles.

Prosecutors said Chaney had accessed the private emails of more than 50 celebrities, including Mila Kunis, Christina Aguilera and Vanessa Hudgens, the BBC reported.

He faces up to 60 years in prison and was remanded in custody ahead of sentencing on 23 July.

Johansson, who admitted the images were of her, tried to laugh off the scandal, telling Vanity Fair: “It’s not like I was shooting a porno.”

She added: "Although there’s nothing wrong with that either.”

The star said she had taken the photos for her former husband Ryan Reynolds.

Asked about how she felt about being in the public eye, the Iron Man actress told CNN: "Just because you're an actor or make films or whatever doesn't mean you're not entitled to your own personal privacy.

"If that is sieged in some way, it feels unjust. It feels wrong."

The 27-year-old - who won a best actress Bafta for her part in Sofia Coppola's Lost In Translation - said she had adjusted to living in the spotlight.

She said: "It's an adjustment, but I think there are certain instances where you give a lot of yourself and finally you have to kind of put your foot down and say, 'Oh wait, I'm taking it back'."

Within hours of the photos appearing, Johansson's lawyer reportedly sent cease and desist letters to the websites showing the pictures and most have now removed them.

Johansson is just one of a rash of stars who have had their phones and emails hacked in recent months.

A series of pictures apparently showing Glee star Heather Morris baring all were leaked online in March.

The saucy snaps feature a naked blonde woman leaning forward towards the camera, revealing her bare breasts and backside.

There are also several headless full frontal shots from the set of pictures, which were reportedly stolen from her phone.

Bizarrely, a further snap, taken in what appears to the be the same bedroom shows the semi-clothed blonde photographing herself upside down in the mirror, dangling her head between her legs.

Several other images make up the collection, including one of the woman wearing a Britney Spears-esque costume, similar to the one the star wore in her Slave 4 U video, an outfit Morris has also worn for the TV series.

The 25-year-old actress, who plays Brittany S. Pears in Glee, has yet to comment on the images.

Morris has posed nude in the past, long before securing her role in the musical series. She told Extra: "For me, I think they are beautiful. It's not something I'm ashamed of."

The images emerged just a week after Mad Men actress Christina Hendricks became embroiled in a topless photo scandal.

While her representative confirmed Hendricks’s phone had indeed been hacked, he denied a headless shot of a woman pulling down her bra to reveal her breasts was her.

A selection of pictures featuring a make-up free, skimpily dressed Hendricks were genuine, her rep confirmed.

Even identity theft crime isn't up to 60 years but since it's a so-called celebrity the punishment is excessive.

Why do women have false boobs - they look so unnatural.

I solemnly condemn the judgement that it did not consider the lose of freedom of this man and overestimate the lose of this "sexy lady".

This is just another example of Stateism in action. Probably a prosecutor coming down hard because the pictures couldn't get him hard.

60 years for hacking nude photos of one of the plainest women on the planet! What a riot ! OK... she is BEYOND plain.

Nobody got upset about the person who hacked Anthony Weiner pictures. Only villain was Anthony Weiner. I know hackers should be punished, but watch the double standards. Feminist dominated judges.

A bit heavy handed don't you think? Especially since so many violent crimes get maybe a tenth of that type of sentence...

Completely OTT, even though I feel hacking like this is illegal and immoral.

Possibly a 60 year sentence for phone hacking of celebrities? That's ridiculous! Murderers seldom go to prison that long and other injury crimes almost never spend that much time. This is exacty what's wrong with our "justice" system. Hackers go to prison, politicians and corporate criminals get to play golf or walk away Scott-free.

Blago got sentenced to 14 years for a non-violent crime that he can never commit again since he's out of office. More than violent offenders usually get. The justice system is broken.
