The family of a man found dumped in a wheelie bin has said he was "always happy to help others".
The body of Steven Rourke, 26, was found on open land off Bickershaw Lane in Wigan on Sunday.
Three people aged 19, 21 and 24 are being questioned on suspicion of his murder.
Greater Manchester Police said a post-mortem examination indicated he had been strangled.
In a statement, Rourke's family said: "Steven was a lovely young man who was always happy to help others. He was well known in the Bickershaw area, where he was well liked as Steven never saw any bad in anyone.
"He had a keen interest in music and loved his family, who were very proud of him. He particularly loved his young nephew and niece and the family will miss him so very much.
"At 26-years-old, Steven was taken from us far too young. We would also like to say thank-you to the men who found Steven's body and alerted the police.
"We ask that anyone who has any information about how Steven was killed should contact the police as soon as possible and we would like others to respect our privacy at this difficult time as we are struggling to come to terms with what has happened."
