Britain's Got Talent was in a crisis on Friday as Simon Cowell ordered last minute edits and rewrites in a bid to attract more viewers than BBC rival The Voice.

The talent show boss apparently ripped this Saturday's episode apart, ordering so many chops and changes that his staff were left wondering which acts would and wouldn't be included.

Even spin-off show Britain's Got More Talent fell victim to frantic last-minute cuts - with host Stephen Mulhern called back to London from Manchester to rework his voice-over links.

Stephen told The Sun: "People don't realise how all over it Simon is. He is a judge but he also covers every bit of that show, there is not one bit that goes out that he hasn't signed off."

He adds that Simon's main aim for this year was to "turn the show on its head".

Last Saturday, The Voice attracted three million more people than BGT during the 20 minutes when the shows overlapped.

The voice is a far better show that Brittan's got talent.

Finally people have realised that shows about talent are better than Simon Cowells shows that just deal in ritual humiliation. I'm really enjoying the voice because it's about people who can actually sing & the judges criticism is constructive not cruel.

I've watched both #TheVoice and #BGT in my opinion The Voice is boring, half the fun of theses shows is to watch the worst acts by taking them out the show is losing half the entertainment. Nice idea from The Voice but I'll carry on watching Britain's Got Talent and Xfactor.

Cowell has obviously lost the plot finally. Nobody believes this press release for one moment. Its just another pile of fertilizer designed to capture the headlines which is why the BBC and the Voice are stealing viewer ratings from BGT

Can't Simon step aside so new programmes take the place of his shows! They've run their course.

I agree, the time has come to get rid of them. We just get served up the sme old rubbish every season. Please Mr Cowell, go away, we have had enough.

Totally agree.
