Jessie J was left frightened and upset after a crazed fan claimed she broke her own leg to be like the singer.
The teenager sent a picture of her shattered limb to The Voice judge after tracking down her private contact details. She said she had damaged her leg so she could wear a cast like the one Jessie J wore after breaking her foot in a stage fall last year.
The fan bombarded the Price Tag singer with messages including one that read: "I will do anything to be just like you."
A source close to the singer told The Sun: "Jessie's a really, really sensitive and kind girl who loves keeping in touch with her fans.
"But this incident was just too much for her and she ended up getting really frightened and upset.
"She was sad that a fan hurt herself to look like her - but she was also scared for her own safety."
The 24-year-old singer, who had her cast removed last October, has beefed up her security.
