George Galloway Is Still Married To Me, Claims Third Wife After MP's Fourth Wedding

George Galloway is undoubtedly riding high on his by-election win and recent fourth wedding – but his third wife may have put a damper on things after announcing she is still married to the MP - something he denies.

Galloway, who tied the knot with Putri Gayatri Pertiwi in Amsterdam just two days after his victory in Bradford West, is still married under Islamic law to his third wife Rima Husseini, she claims.

Husseini, who gave birth to Galloway’s youngest son four months ago, exclusively told The Sun she had repeatedly asked for a divorce under Islamic law, but that the Respect Party leader continued to refuse.

She said: "We married under Islamic law. There's a misconception you can have up to four wives in Islam, but it's not true.

“Under Islamic law we remain married. He hasn’t done anything illegal, but morally it’s a different story.”

A spokesman told the newspaper: "Mr Galloway won’t engage in a war of words with the mother of two of his children. He was free to marry last Saturday and he did."

Galloway's assistant Rob Hoveman told The Huffington Post UK: "This is a personal matter on which no comment would be appropriate."

The 57-year-old's fourth wife is 30 years younger than him at just 27 - and two years younger than his eldest daughter, 29-year-old Lucy.

Putri, a Dutch anthropologist, has already been promoting her new husband online, by plus one-ing his website on the social network google+.

In her blog she describes herself as a "curious person, vivid, flexible, sometimes stressful, awfully vain, balanced but contradictive, and perhaps therefore always in contemplation."

Galloway, who is often referred to in the press as "Gorgeous George", told The Daily Mail: "Putri is an anthropologist and child rights specialist and we have known each other for about six months.

"The next few months will be interesting because I will be working back in Westminster as an MP. But we will be moving around between London, Bradford and Amsterdam."

According to Putri's Linkedin page she has also blogged for Wijblijvenhier, a website for young Dutch Muslims, where she says she views herself as a " 'Dutch Indonesian."

She also writes about her reflections on a 'slut walk' in Amsterdam.
