It's 18 years since his death, but Kurt Cobain continues to live on in the hearts and ears of millions.
The Nirvana frontman, who took his own life on April 5, 1994 came to be regarded as the king of grunge, a genre of music that continues to flourish today.
Just 27 when he died, his mother, Wendy O'Connor remarked at the time: "Now he's gone and joined that stupid club", referring to the common age at which many other musical luminaries passed away.

Scroll down for pictures of Kurt Cobain taken five months before his death and video of the singer with wife Courtney Love and baby daughter Frances Bean backstage at MTV in 1993.
Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, Brian Jones, Robert Johnson and Jim Morrison all died at the age of 27, as did Amy Winehouse, last year.
Frohman met Cobain just five months before his death, telling Rolling Stone the singer, who had wrestled with a heroin addiction for many years, was late for the shoot and immediately asked for a bucket to vomit into.
"You know, he was very stoned, yet he was coherent on some level and gone on another level," Frohman added.
"I had met people like that before, but this was unique because I was shooting someone with these glasses on. He wouldn't take the glasses off, so I couldn't really make eye contact easily."
Despite his well-documented drug addiction, Cobain, was a doting father, as recently released MTV footage revealed.
The singer was on set for an interview in 1993 and brought along his wife Courtney Love and baby daughter Frances Bean.
Before the interview the camera caught Courtney playing with Frances, calling for Kurt to come see her.
The video shows a particularly heartwarming moment where the two rock stars try to convince their little girl to drink some chocolate milk.
