No more Mrs Cole for Cheryl - she's dropping her surname.
Following in the footsteps of some of the world's greatest stars, the singer has decided to be known only as Cheryl on all future material, confirming that she has moved on from serial cheat Ashley Cole.
The source said she would not be removing Cole legally but wants to make a career statement, adding: "She's in a really good place at the moment and wants to take life by the balls.
"She can't wait to start performing live again and her new stage name has given her comeback an extra bit of spice."
The former Girls Aloud star insisted on keeping the name following her split from footballer Ashley last year but has now decided to emulate the likes of Madonna, Rihanna, Beyonce and Sting with just one name.

I cannot believe this women thinks she is famous I have no idea who she was until the Ashley Cole event. Some people do seem to have an over enthusiastic approach to their value and fame. Perhaps as one person mentione below lets hope her head does dissapear up her rear end

Why isn't she removing the Cole legally and reverting to her maiden name? Would seem the sensible thing to do, particularly as they did not have children together, then all ties would be cut.

Well yes I realise she may not like her maiden name. What I was meaning is it's a bit ridiculous if she still uses Cole on legal documents like bank statements etc. She cannot just use Cheryl on legal forms, so she either has to choose the maiden name or stick with Cole - depends on which she considers the lesser of two evils.

Ahem, two names synonymous with shaping the music indsutry with innovation and style not to mention they at least right their own music...what has 'Cheryl' done with music?
