Barack Obama Joins Giant Easter Bunny For White House Egg Roll

Obama Opens Easter Egg Roll - But Who Came Dressed As A Bunny?

It's a long-standing White House Easter tradition that the US president entertain children on the South Lawn for a egg roll, and this year Barack Obama was joined by his family - along with a giant Easter Bunny.

Rumours that the costume concealed vice-president Joe Biden have not been confirmed, although reports from CBS News that Obama gave the bunny a high-five could suggest the two are on good terms.

The Easter egg roll dates back to 1878 and president Rutherford B Hayes. The theme of this year's event was "Let's Go, Let's Play, Let's Move," and was introduced by first lady Michelle Obama as part of her drive to reduce childhood obesity.

Presumably chocolate eggs were not on the menu.

Michelle Obama was joined by Samantha Cameron at a childhood obesity awareness event when Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife visited the Unites States last month.

The Obama family dog 'Bo' also joined in on the Easter action on Sunday, when he was spotted sporting a rather dashing pair of pink bunny ears.

The first family have been joined by a giant rabbit at each of the previous Easter Egg roll events since they were elected. For our part we find them all rather terrifying:
