Nikki Grahame Battling Anorexia Again

Posted: 10/04/2012 13:04 Updated: 10/04/2012 13:04   WENN

She claimed she was seeking help for her anorexia and was remaining positive despite a relapse, but devastated Big Brother star Nikki Grahame admits she is losing her battle with the disorder.

Reality TV star Nikki has spoken extensively about her body troubles but, despite being hospitalised due to the condition in the past, had managed to overcome her woes.

However, pictures of the former Big Brother housemate looking painfully thin recently emerged, prompting 5st 7lbs Nikki to admit she is suffering once again.

A tearful Nikki told Heat: "I'm losing my battle again. I was so positive a few months ago. I was winning and had put on half a stone. I can't let myself go back to what I was, but I'm smaller than I was when I checked out of the clinic, back when I was really ill."

Nikki was regularly attending body awareness sessions and had started to gain weight but, after a holiday to Australia with her mother earlier this year, her weight started to plummet.

The star has suffered with the disease since childhood but, despite her past experience, feels unable to stop punishing her body.

She said: "At the moment, I have to work out twice a day. If I don't, my head is just racked with guilt. And I weigh all my food on scales. I'm currently on about 1,200 calories a day, when really I should be on over 2,000. I'm punishing my body. I can't stop but I'm getting help."

Sadly, Nikki has accepted she will battle the debilitating disorder forever but wants nothing more than to recover and gain weight.

She said: "It's something I will battle all of my life, but I want more than anything to get it under control."

Nikki you NEED to throw all your mirrors in the bin.stop being negative.about your life.take yourself out of the media limelight, eat three meals a day.be happy you have your eyesight, your ability to talk and walk.and basically have the intelligence to do something with your life while you are still young. Then,go to a third world country where there are starving children and help feed them.give them the hope they crave to live.you will soon forget about your anorexia, its psychological. if you put your mind into something more serious .,like helping others live, then that is WHAT you should do.wake up young lady. and stop saying you cannot do it, because YOU CAN ,AND YOU WILL. good luck Nikki.

Some ppl are so ignorant as to what Anorexia is. It's got nothing to do with fame, money or anything else. Also it's not always to be like the models , men have it too. It is an illness one that can and has killed thousands of ppl who have sufferd from it and who as still fighting it. Belive me it's not easy for the sufferer or their family to have to live with it. UNfortunatly there are not many treatment centres for it either so often have to be treated on hospital wards or mental health units who often don't have the foggiest clue as to how to treat them. There is not alot of information either as often still treated as tabboo. If Nikki's story draws attention to the condition then thats brilliant . Makes you wonder why more ppl don't tell their story and hide it away like a dirty little secret when you read some of these comments!

Advice - stop giving this girl media coverage and she will start eating.
She is attention seeking.

ignorant and ridiculous statement. take a look around yourself at the people you care about - I imagine you must care about someone - now think yourself lucky that they don't suffer from anorexia as it is a horrendous ILLNESS for both family members and sufferers.

Advice - educate yourself before you comment.

It is because I am educated in this sphere that I was able to give that advice.

I never really knew much about the 'disease' myself, but after reading Nikki's autobiography a few years back I understand alot now. She had the illness before any media attention, so I dont think that shallow comment you made is even relevant!

Yes, Nikki may be an attention seeker. We've all seen her display of child-like tantrums over the most bizarre issues. But at the end of the day she is very ill and needs support to cope with her anorexia. I do wish people would stop knocking her at every opportunity. If you don't like her then fine, but keep your opinions and nasty comments to yourself.

It was obvious from day one of Big Brother that Nikki has mental health issues. Her out bursts of tears and screaming were symptoms no one could ignore. Anorexia like any eating disorder is a phycological not a physical condition. I find it strange that every person who ever appeared on television in what ever capacity now earns the right to be called a "star". I don't know how helpful it was for her to pour her heart out to Heat magazine, perhaps some of the fee could be put to good use and help Nikki get some professional help for her condition.

Poor Nikki, my heart goes out to her, there is nothing worse than having an eating disorder. I struggle really badly with my weight, I'm opposite to Nikki I am overweight so I can understand in part how she is suffering.

Sadly the body imaage price some people pay to be "famous"..... I trust she receives good counselling.

All this crap...wheres the Abu Hanza story? or you not want to offend the crook hate preacher?

Is there a reason a lot of you on here are illiterate. An eating disorder is something you can't just stop, poverty, fame, fortune or any anything else these people do or do not have doesn't make you have an eating disorder. Is is psychological and a mental illness
11:22 PM on 04/10/2012
I hope Nikki gets the help she needs . Too many people have lost the battle with anorexia .Good Luck Nikki! I hope you can beat this!

Why do they keep calling this deranged f***wit a 'star'? There's got to a law against this under the 'celebrity description act' or something

As much as I sympathise with people who have eating disorders, I can't help but feel most of it is brought on by this relentless pursuit of fame / success at all costs. Get a grip and enjoy life. Stop chasing the uncatchable and you may live a more satisfying life (as well as a longer one). I have an eating disorder........I really enjoy my grub and couldn't give a stuff if I put on a few pounds because of it. You're a long time dead.

Utter nonsence , i have an eating disorder brought on by medication after a accident .
04:02 PM on 04/11/2012
Utter nonsense ? ....Maybe, maybe not. It's your opinion and you're welcome to it I'm sure. You will kindly note however that I did not say 'All eating disorders........' I said 'Most.....' and as I also said, you have my fullest sympathy in your particular circumstances. It was not my intention to offend you personally but you seem to have jumped on it nevertheless.
