Missing Kyle Hall Found
Kyle Hall, from Smethwick, near Birmingham, has been found safe and well

A 10-year-old boy whose disappearance sparked a major police operation involving specialist search teams and a force helicopter has been found safe and well.

Kyle Hall, from Smethwick, near Birmingham, was found in the local area at lunchtime today, around 13 hours after being reported missing by his mother.

West Midlands Police had issued an urgent appeal to trace the 10-year-old, who had not been seen since yesterday afternoon after leaving his home to go out to play.

Officers from across the West Midlands were drafted in last night to help with the search for Kyle, to conduct house-to-house inquiries, and to contact the boy's friends and relatives.

Search teams also scoured open land supported by the force helicopter while other officers trawled through hours of CCTV footage.

Brilliant 'good news' story, so well done HP giving it decent coverage. One thing nags at me though, and it's this. Why no praise for the police who organised a massive search operation - successful in this case??. We're still too fond of knocking "our" - yes we pay for them via our taxes - police force. Some praise for a change would not go amiss...

A clip across the ear , then a hug from his mum , and told off

So glad he has been found, but cannot understand why a 10 year old was not reported missing until 11pm?

probably everybody was already out looking for him, when they couldn't find him, then they called in the police.

I would never wait that long if it was my daughter and she is 10 - wouldn't care how many people were looking. My daughter was 10 minutes late coming back from the shop down the road the other day and I felt sick!!
