An Argentinian mother has spoken of her shock after her stillborn baby was found alive in a morgue.

Analia Bouter's fifth child was born at 26 weeks - around three months premature - in Argentina's northern Chaco province.

Doctors told her the baby had died, but when she and her husband visited the morgue 12 hours later, they realised their daughter was breathing.

"That night I went with my husband to where the coffin was and he opened it up," she told journalists

"Immediately I heard her cry... I fell to my knees."

The hospital the baby was born in

Her husband Fabian Veron also told journalists of the moment they realised the baby was alive: "The baby was there and they put the little casket on a stretcher. We looked for a bar to prise it open. The casket was nailed shut," he told journalist.

"My wife jumped back," he said. "I started to prise, took a deep breath and took the top off. My wife was the first one to look at the body and she uncovered it slowly.

The baby's father Fabian Veron told of his shock

"She saw the little hand and then uncovered the face. That's when it let the first little cry out."

The baby, who the couple have named Luz Milagros, is reported to be in a stable condition. The authorities in Argentina are investigating.

I can't believe so many people believe this story. A baby born this early survived in a coffin that was nailed shut and storred in a refrigerated morgue. Come on now.

I'm just curious as to why the coffin was already nailed shut before the parents got to see the baby

That's your first response!!! Not, thank god they got the coffin open and now their baby is doing well. It's clear how your mind works. One of the compensation, compensation, compensation brigade.

No I think it's a good question - the only way to MAKE authorities sit up & take notice is to hit the wallet.

Also, that baby should have been whisked away to an incubator at birth. Has she suffered brain damage because of the lack of medical care? They won't know for some time how she was been affected.

I'm feeling cynical today - is there an unspoken hospital policy of not assisting such prem babies because they don't want the expense of caring for them... Hopsital are run by accountants, not doctors.

Sheer negligence. How many others have been misdiagnosed and died a horrific death?

One question for me poses the "Miracle" believers... "Why put the poor child through the trauma in the first place???"
Just a thought...

Amazing how many people are willing to attribute serious medical malpractice to something that works towards the 'Glory of (insert specific name here) God'...

Almost makes you think that such a practice is designed to make people be quiet and not ask awkward questions. Oh, wait...

Sad indictment on any healthcare professional that does not recognize breathing as a sign of life.
The odds were not greatly in her favour when she was born at 26 weeks but are really stacked against this little one after their criminal incompetence. I hope that if she survives she will not have been too badly damaged for a happy life.

Shocking story but thank goodness a happy ending for all.

What a lovely story and wheather you are religious or not it doesn't really matter but there are some horrible points here about God and all of them point to one thing that the people who believe in God are happy to announce it and the non-believers are unhappy that people believe. Get a life non-believers.........

There should be a religion for Atheists.
